Racing Tips: Third Times a Charm for Rez at Ayr

With Rizz feeling unwell I’ve been asked again to step in and cover some mid week racing.

I had a nice winner on Sunday in the shape of Ndaawi. The Charlie Appleby runner who was sent off favourite at around 8/11 wasn’t at the races at all and my selection knuckled down well on the day to get a well deserved win.

Well done to Rizz for his nice winner yesterday who drifted out to a nice price or 8/1! Myself and Rizz actually spoke this morning prior and we both agreed that Marhaba the champ is a nice horse and definitely one for the tracker.

I was asked to cover at pretty short notice so I haven’t had a full study at tomorrows card although I had already picked out a sole selection that I was going to do myself tomorrow so now I’m on I might as well give my preview.

Ayr 1:44 – Rez 2/1

On paper this looks a two horse race between the current market leader United Approach and my selection Rez.

I’m hoping Rez can make it third time lucky when he contests the 1:44 at Ayr.

Rez is a full brother to the impressive Happy Romance who I’m sure a lot of you are familiar with.

Rez showed signs of promise on debut at Wolverhampton in a class 5 maiden. When the penny dropped he quickly made up plenty of ground to finish fourth which I thought was a nice effort.

With the Wolverhampton run under his belt most assumed Rez would be next be seen in the winners however that wasn’t the case.

He contested at Pontefract at the start of the month again over the same 6f trip.

He definitely took a step forward from the Wolverhampton run and is most certainly a horse learning on the job.

Rez launched his challenge late on and grabbed the lead but was headed on the line by Hougoumont who came from no where and stole victory on the line by a short head.

Another similar run by Rez or even a slight step forward from the pontefract run I think will be enough to see Rez in the winners.

Special mention to Stradivarius who if you follow me will know is my all time favourite.

Strad was retired yesterday after battling a foot injury.

Around 3.5 million in prize money, 25 wins from 35 races I think was the correct figure. He was the best stayer in the business and showed that even up to a few months ago.

He competed with the so called young and up coming stayers in his later years and if not given a few dodgy rides arguably gets his head in front in some of those races.

He smashes every single one of those stayers back in his prime. The stayers division is weak and won’t be the same without him.

A legend of the sport and one of the reasons I got into racing in the first place. All the best Strad 🟡⚫️
