Everything I think will happen in races the last couple of days, the opposite has happened. With horses I thought would front run, don't, and they all seem to fold in the final furlong. Animato nearly won at Beverley, being beaten into 3rd in a photo finish. He didn't look a straight forward ride, but looks like a horse to follow over this trip and maybe further, if he doesn't go much up in the handicap he'll be winning races.
York 2:25
BERGERAC has been the model of consistency so far this year with his record looking like 3-3-2, fingers crossed today is his day to get a 1 next to his name.
It doesn't surprise me to see him priced up as second fav as his most recent run was a big effort, and if he runs to the same level, he will be bang there at the finish. In big field handicaps like this it requires a fair bit of luck in running, but he should be able to avoid a fair amount of horses in this as he likes to race prominently, which can often be favourable at York. I think the form of his recent 2nd will prove to be good form over the next month or so after the horses in that race have raced again, so a 1lb higher mark today isn't a concern for me. He's only a 4yo, so there could be a little more improvement to come for him this year and a mark of 90 does look workable.
Hopefully the rain in forecast stays away as he will prefer a good surface. With the extra places on offer I think he is a solid EW player.
York looks very tough today, and I only like the looks of Kevin Ryan's 4yo, with nothing else really catching my eye. Good luck if you're having a play at York today, hopefully you can find some winners.
