We probably saw the last race of Dancing Shadow's career yesterday at Chepstow. The form he had shown earlier in the season did give me the impression he still had the fire in his belly to put in a big run, especially being as well handicapped as was, but it wasn't meant to be. He was shoved along quite early into the race (when you consider it was over 3m 6f) and he looked finished. Hopefully, connections do the right thing and retire him, as his best days are well behind him, and he doesn't appear to offer much in a racing sense anymore.

A horse who is priced up at a nice EW price, and arguably shouldn't be as based on his form of last year in this race, it looks like connections have targeted him at this race again. IOLANI sprung a surprise in this race last year, winning at odds of 33/1.
Last year connections got a run into him, before running him at Musselburgh, and they've done the exact same tactic this year. He had a 100+ day break before running at Newcastle, where he was convincingly beaten (used as a prep run) and then bolted up by 9L in this race. It might seem weird for them to target a Class 2 race at Musselburgh, but this is a series final, which has £15,609 prize to the winner, which is very good, so it's not a shock that they are going for this.
Obviously there are going to be horses coming into this race with much better recent form, but when a horse has been targeted at a race for a decent length of time, they need to be respected. When you combine that with the fact he is an EW price, I think you can have a small bet on him, and there will definitely be worse EW bets on Friday, so a chance can be taken.
