Hopefully you all had a successful day of betting yesterday, and banked a little bit of cash for the Cheltenham festival which is around the corner. Today is a lot more quiet, and I've picked out just the one selection.

Just the one selection for me today, which comes in this competitive handicap chase, but based on the recent trend of winners, I think DONKEY YEARS offers decent value (at the time of writing, which is midday Saturday).
It has paid dividends to back horses who are at the foot of the market in this race in the last ten years, with horses carrying between 9st 3lbs – 10st – 4lbs being winners on six occasions since 2012. In this race this year, no horse gets in the weights off that low of a rating, so bottom weight is in fact 10st 7lbs, but that is what my selection is carrying, and there are reasons to believe he is well treated on his current handicap mark. The way he travelled through his race last time at Thurles suggested he was a horse who was ahead of his handicap mark, but also a horse who needs to be produced late. He cruised through that race last time, but didn't quite go through with things and looked to have plenty of running left, even though he didn't win, which seems a weird thing to say. He was 4lbs lighter than the winner, Fakir D'Alene, who races in this race today, and now is a stone lighter, so gets a 10lb pull in the weights with that horse. The fact he attitude seemed in question last time out, it is a slight worry, but I can't ignore the fact he is well handicapped, and if he travels through this race like he did last time, he might not need to be asked a serious question, and mark will deliver him late as possible.
It is competitive, but the horses you need to watch out for are carrying heaps of weight more than the selection, and that could be the telling blow. The only other bottom weight in the race is Rightplacerightime, who doesn't look a natural over fences, and it would be a surprise if he won this, despite being part of the shrewd Emmet Mullins stable.

Few duffers later but it was a great watch on Stateside Live.
Cezanne at 2/1 was a steal and back to his best after nearly a year away he just needed that first run to come on for last nights win.
Morello at 10/3 was very impressive and won easy too .

On further inspection that’s a Rex Runt of a race to pick a winner from with a good few winning graded races last run.
Hermes Baie 4-35 auteuil 9-4 🇫🇷.
Hermes won all his completed races last year.
This and theleme have had a running battle beating each other in equal measure since 2020.
Hermes Baie beat theleme 1st time out last year and won the last 2 head to head races narrowly here, Hermes fell last time out in a race which theleme won.
Galop Marin is another who can get involved on a going day.

Geometrical 2-45 southwell 100-30.
Looks a match between this and odds on favourite Washington.
I’ve always had a theory that horses that run well at Doncaster also run well at southwell and vica versa.
Geometrical was a decent sort for jim bolger in Ireland and won on hurdles debut over here for new connections beating icon d’aubrelle 2 lengths at Doncaster and gave that one 5 pounds.
Today both geometrical and Washington carry a penalty but geometrical has 3 pound less with the claimer on board.
I’ve seen a write up saying Washington is impossible to oppose so with that in mind I’ve done geometrical without Washington at 10-11 also.

The favourite was just trainer record but Luis Saez on fire and his horse ran well in much better race as proven .
