Yesterday's couple of EW selections ran well in the main, but Dalkingstown was unfortunately a faller when booked for a 2nd placed finish. I hope he is okay, as I've not heard much about it since the race, also I hope Ranieri is okay after his fall as that looked a bad one. Trans Express ran a blinder in the race he had previously won 4x on the bounce, and he gave it another great go to make it five, but he got tired late on and didn't last it out, but got us a place nonetheless.

Even though Ascot is on today, and there are a few Class 1 races, including this, other than PIC D'ORHY, I think it's difficult to find a winner. On paper this should be a walk in the park for this lad, as he is head and shoulders clear on official ratings, but as we know horse racing doesn't work like that most of the time, and I do think it will be a tough race for him to win, but he will get the job done.
He was travelling well last time out at Newbury, until he fell a couple of fences from home. It's hard to say how the race would've finished if he had stayed on his feet, but he would've been very tough to beat. This race doesn't seem as competitive as that did, so you'd expect him to win this, and the odds on offer are a reflection of his chances. They are short, but at EVS i'd still argue there is value left in that price. I think he is not odds on due to the fact the Jane Williams' trained horse looked good last time out, and will appreciate this track as he stayed on strongly to win on the line at Exeter. However, this is a totally different ball game, as that was a novice chase against respectable horses, whereas now he is in a Grade 2 against the likes of Pic D'orhy who is rated in the 150s, and he also carries a 3lb penalty, which makes life even harder.
Fifty Ball would've been interesting for me in this race if it was a handicap, as I still believe he is well-in on his current mark of 133, but unfortunately for that horse, they run off level weights, so he should not be winning this. Favoir is a talented horse, but his jumping is not up to scratch to be competitve against the selection, in my opinion. He hits too many fences too hard, but with a clear round, he would be a danger. Up The Straight is a good horse on his day, but this is a big step-up for him, and he'll fare better in handicaps.

Is Buzz the real deal? never ran over 2m 4f priced at 2/1 would you really be backing a horse at this price to win a Grade One over 3 miles.
Ronald Pump 11/2 coming here rather than being pointed alternative engagemet at Leopardstown over Xmas.
Thomas Darby 10/1 ran twice over hurdles at this track. Winner of a good handicap, and beaten by a short head on the other occasion.
Paisley Park 10/1 won the race last year, can he return to his glory days.
Thyme Hill 11/4 my old amigo, Dickie Johnson quoted one of the best horses I have ever ridden. My NAP for Cheltenham Festival had to miss meeting because of injury, before signing off with victory an Aintree.
Went to France for big pot Prep Race the 4/6 FAVE also got beat that day. It was a very disappointing trip that day, and questions have got to be asked. It was a rare flop from a stayer who has otherwise been a model of consistency. If back on SONG tomorrow he should breeze past this lot at a canter.
