I can't understand why Harry Skelton decided to hold up West To The Bridge. He is best seen to effect when he runs from the front, which he has done seasons on end now, so why would he anchor the horse in last place especially when he couldn't get him to settle. The horse finished 1.5L back in second, and it just seemed like a typical Skelton mistake and trying to be too cute, which he does on a regular basis.

Cedar Hill was another horse who finished as runner-up. I don't understand how the ground wasn't softer than good to soft, soft in places when the forecast was suggesting torrential rain overnight for nearly every hour. Whether or not that would've made a difference, I'm not sure, as the winner was well on top, but when things aren't going your way it becomes painful. Betting is swing and roundabouts and the tide will turn again, and the plenty of bad rides I've seen this week won't be on the future horses.

Stratford 2:40 – Summer Night City 9/4 (1pt)

Juvenile hurdlers are often to read, especially all unraced ones, but Summer Night City definitely has the best pedigree in this lineup, for jumps racing anyway.

This juvenile hurdler is a full brother to two hurdle winners, Lady Reset trained by David Pipe who has won four races over obstacles and Luckinthecity who is 1/1 for Willie Mullins from his only bumper race. The Mare has been a good servant to the Brookhouse family who own this horse, as she has produced some flat winners as well. The sire of Summer Night City has produced some decent jumpers in his time as a stallion including Onemorefortheroad and Lucky Zebo who were both hitting RPRs in the 130 in their pomp.

Ben Brookhouse has started very well as a trainer for his family and his recent form is up there with the best over the last fortnight, so he is clearly targeting the right races at the right time with the correct horses. He has had 5 winners from 8 runners (63% SR) in the last fourteen days and he is 2/4 with his hurdlers so far this jumps season. As well as potentially having the best jumps pedigree in this race, I think his pedigree suggests the good ground that he'll encounter will be right up his street. The Mare was a winner on fast ground on the flat, and her main winning progeny, Lady Reset, won all of her races over hurdles and the flat on good ground or better.

Stratford 4:10 – Jack Sprat 5/1 (1pt)

I think it's easy to see why Myrstica and Hourless are at the top of the market in this race, but I'm not totally sold on the pair and I think Jack Sprat has a better chance than the drift in odds would suggest.

Myrstica was a useful flat horse when trained by Tim Easterby, being rated in the 80s. She has made a nice transition to hurdles under David Pipe, but she has won at very short odds on a three of her runs, and hasn't beaten much. She ran to her level of form last time out, recording an RPR of 112 whilst having the same rating, so it's hardly like she is well-handicapped. On hurdles debut she finished 2nd to a horse who has won a couple of races but doesn't seem particularly well-handicapped either, and when she gets a decent level of opposition for the grade she can't win, which makes me think Myrstica will struggle to carry such a big weight around today. Hourless is 1/2 over hurdles and is a juvenile so gets into this race carrying a much lower weight for the rating she has. However, even though she beat a horse who has since gone on to win a nice race since and the very same horse reversed the form with Hourless, I don't believe that is reliable form. 3yo form of this time of year is very difficult to weigh up, but now she is against the older horses I think she has to be taken on, especially with a flat rating of 42.

Jack Sprat catches the eye on handicap debut for a shrewd trainer in Jamie Snowden. Jamie does very well and has a great strike rate, he knows what time of day it is and with a horse like Jack Sprat who has a nice jumps pedigree being by Walk In The Park and out of a Flemensfirth mare who won 3 races over hurdles and was placed a further 5 times in her 13 run career, there has to be more to come from this 97 rated horse, especially when his full-sister won on hurdles debut for Henry De Bromhead producing an RPR of 117 in the process. He was well-fancied last time out at Wincanton when he stayed on very strongly, the form isn't up to much, but considering the money was down, I think they believe this horse is better than what he has shown so far. Good ground looks ideal based on the pedigree with his mum and sister winning on good ground, and the longer trip should be up his street as his sister opened up her career over 2m 4f.

Some good points there database but again it’s after the event.
Surely you could have helped punters save some money if they followed the tips by voicing your concerns about rizzell’s reasoning before the races as you say “you don’t stand for mediocrity” ??

You come across as a complex character who if channelled correctly would be an asset to any racing forum, it’s just a shame you seem to become divisive, bordering on hostile within a couple of weeks of your returns to action.

I don’t know your website details but you can leave them if you wish as I would tune In from time to time for some pointers.
Good luck and chill FFS, life’s too short for getting het up over horse racing innit 🤔🏇

    • dazzman1979 7 months ago

Yeah not the best to be picking a newcomer with so many people depending on you . You may do it as a personal bet perhaps but the risk versus reward fair enough if it’s each way price with 3 places on offer but not a win only at skinny odds 😂

    • elvis parsley 7 months ago

Should have made these comments before the race guys.
If you’re right or wrong after timing is the lowest form of criticism is it not.

Were all experts after seeing the results.
Reason you didn’t say these things before the race I guess is the fear you would be hung out to dry if the tips had won.

Help each other and post comments before the race then maybe we could save a few bob.

that word is probably not worth the oxygen required to share it. probably lazy bs from someone because olly murphy has been firing in winners. a word from who??? what does he know and how does he know it. does he not realise there are 10 other horses he wont know anything about??? what, has he seen how big a fav he is and just passing on info as if he feeds the horse its breakfast??

if you are backing a horse who has never jumped a fence in public off a 400 day break at these prices, you might as well just stick to your £2 footie acca each weekend. had a word? have a word more like.

you can get better prices on more likely types to come in the top 3…

i am being like this because when you come on and only say ”had a word” it inspires people to bet bigger because they presume you are getting your info from a man in the know, which isn’t likely, even if the horse wins… why would you make it easy for the bookies??? what are we gonna do, bet £20 on it and win a poxxy 30 or smth???

is nothing person wilf, just unless the trainer is calling me on the red phone i am really not interested, it’s nothing personal i just know these so called words, around here at least are 99.99% useless and ‘my methods’ will beat them every single day of the week. believe it or not there are not many people capable of what i do in the entire country and that is a fact.

but regardless of that, the horse has never jumped a puddle, 400 days off the track, went from about 11/8 to 7/2….. no need to get involved, absolutely none.

  13. elvis parsley 7 months ago

    Hourless 4-10 Stratford.

Beat the useful max of stars on hurdle debut then subsequently lost to that same rival but still ran well.

Myristica is joint favourite and ran up some wins in the summer but the opposition weren’t the best and carries 22 pounds more than hourless today.

Strange seeing a 3 year old in such races but Alan king is a good dual purpose trainer so who knows !!

    • robyn 7 months ago

just makes you sick init, 30 yards to go, he takes the hands off the neck and smacks it, a horse will respond better to hands up the next shunting it, than smacking it, absolute fix and plain to see, they are just so good at it many will say im talking out my pocket, like i even backed it.

Noticed there were less comments here than earlier and seem mine and others post’s have been removed by moderation Taliban.

Please enlighten me as to what I’ve posted that has warranted removal.

Pretty much had my fill of the Flat at this stage.
I’ve 1 Antepost bet remaining on Horizon Dore for the Champion Stakes and will probably have a go on the Breeders Cup on the day but that will be it for me, so nice to see some of the big NH names starting their campaigns over the next couple of days at punchestown.
The first race tomorrow was won by Quilixios (triumph winner) in 2020 and Bell Ex One in 2021 (3rd in the boodles) so it’s worth a look.
Zanahiyr also makes his return to action. What way will he be campaigned this season I wonder.
On weds A Dream To Share makes his debut over the sticks. He runs in the first race which was won last year by Marine Nationale and by others in the past like Samcro and Envoi Allen. He was faultless in bumpers last season but if he can’t jump all that speed won’t be enough as we seen with High Definition last year. He’s also as low as 7/2 already which is just ridiculous at this stage when we haven’t seen anyone yet.
ADTS is by Muhaarar who was a 6f sprinter and so far has a return of 5/87 for Hurdle winners and while that’s not a big sample it’s still not good reading.
At this early stage Mirazur West would interest me most but It’s very early days yet and Hendo has had a lot of money pumped into his yard this season 1.9m I believe so he’s bound to have a few smart ones I’d imagine.
We then see Conflated and Minella Indo (surely he’s earned his retirement) so things beginning to happen at least.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a ‘Money back as free bet’ top 3 offer or certainly not on a midweek race for USA but that’s what Betfred are doing with Horseshoe Indianapolis Race 6.

Went with No:7 Empires Best at 4/1 ***. Although surely got a Top 3 in him IF okay after the break. Trial times after good and last race he ran was a better class by some margin so hopefully ready to fire!

Well done again to any winners! 👍
