Brando was a placed horse if you backed him on William Hill who were offering four places. I think with a clear run he would've won, but it's easy to say that now, either way place money on a 33/1 shot is decent. The rain appears to be coming again, which I'm hoping it does as the selection will relish the slow ground.

A horse who will more than likely be overlooked in the market, and probably shouldn't be is STAR CITIZEN. This horse will love the ground, if the weather forecast is correct, which in most cases it won't be. But, if the rain does arrive, and the amount they think will come, then the ground should be soft and that definitely brings this horse into the equation.
As expected, at the time of writing this up he is the biggest priced runner in the field, 14/1 with Bet365 and 12/1 elsewhere, and it's not surprising to see him at these kinds of odds. He hasn't got a well known trainer, and the selection's strike rate of 2 wins from 22 runs isn't exactly great, but his best runs have come on a soft surface, and he is much better when getting those conditions. He was originally trained by Charlie Appleby, and owned by Godolphin. He won a race when trained by Appleby, and he won very easily on soft ground. Since then, he has won one for his current trainer Fred Watson, and that was over today's course and distance on soft ground. The win he had was over this C&D last year was off a mark of 54, which is 6lbs heavier than what he is currently rated, which definitely gives him a chance in this race which doesn't look the strongest by any means. Since that win he has ran some okay races in defeat, mostly on soft ground, which includes a 3rd over C&D behind Lyons Lane who won again after they met to land the hat-trick, and then he finished 4th at Catterick over 6f off a mark of 53.
Koropick is an interesting runner, and the jockey booking of Danny Tudhope suggests they are confident on a big run. His most recent run was better than we've recently seen, but I'd be worried about him handling the ground, as he hasn't exactly been great on a slow surface.
He has had a recent run, so he will hopefully strip fitter for this run. Fingers crossed for some rain.

Not a great day yesterday, my 8/1 each way punt looked a lost cause some way out. Light refrain was extremely disappointing especially given the money that came for it over night and before the off. Backed into 11/8 and simply never got into a rhythm. The main race of the day were my selection was castle star was another upset. As I wrote in my write up yesterday that horse will always give you a run for your money and at one stage I thought he was getting on top but the overall winner I don’t think anyone seen that coming…
Just the one selection for today on what looks a pretty awful days of racing. Probably better keeping your money in your pocket however there was one that caught my eye for the Varian yard.
Mushirif 10/3 – 2:10 – Wolverhampton NAP
I personally thought the Varian yard had went of the boil for a while but they’ve definitely came back to form as of late.
He runs Mushirif in the 2:10 who I think has a good chance at a pretty nice price of 10/3 of time of writing.
He ran a beaten favourite back at bath back in may. He ran over 1m 2 that day and did so in previous races as well. He’s upped in trip today to 1m4 which the pedigree suggests should definitely be more his trip. I’m hoping a combination of the up in trip, going well fresh ( hopefully not needing a run ) and taking into account it’s a small field with a few more exposed runners that it all falls for a nice run.
I’ll be having a few quid on Rizzles star citizen pick. Unfortunately only paying 2 places and it’s been backed into 10s since I’ve seen it so I’ll just be going straight to win otherwise I’d of taken 14s each way.

Tonkinese 5.45 Ballinrobe. This horse seems to run every week. Finished last of 5 in a conditions hurdle on Saturday but wasn’t far behind in a handicap the time before. Back in a handicap today. Might be worth an ew extra. Trading at around 33s at the moment.

Just looked at the UK racing on Tuesday and its a new low, 4 meetings, one class 3, about 3 class 4, and the rest class 5 and 6 races where there’s not much point looking at form as these don’t string any sort of consistent runs together.
Only chance is if you get word that it’s a horses ‘turn’ to win if you get my drift.
And why are there 3 of the 4 meetings ALL WEATHER ???.
