SMOKEY MALONE (12.30) looks capable of defying a penalty in the 7f handicap at Southwell.
The three-year-old is progressive at this modest level and he edged out Peppermint Truffle over a mile ten days ago, the front pair pulling well clear.
He chased home Fast Emma over today's distance in January and will take a great deal of beating.

NIVEN (2.40) should appreciate the drop to 1m 6f after his solid third to Bill Cody and Atomic Jack over a stamina-sapping 2m 2f trip here 12 days ago.
