BE PROUD (7.55) escapes a penalty for hacking up in an apprentices' race at Newcastle five days ago and is fancied to go in again on a quick return this evening.
Jim Goldie has found Gosforth Park a happy hunting ground and the decision to revert to sprinting with Be Proud paid instant dividends. Stall 14 on the stands' side means Paddy Mathers will seek to tuck in for a bit of cover and produce Be Proud with a late kick.
GRANDEE (5.55) finished third of four behind Anyonecanhaveitall and Blame It On Sally over course and distance 12 days ago and this represents a slight drop in grade. Danny Tudhope is a good booking by Roger Fell and Grandee showed his liking for the track when scorching home by five lengths earlier in the season.
KUWAIT CURRENCY (6.40) was trading at 6-1 with bet365 and rates a decent each-way punt in a competitive mile handicap at Kempton. Well-backed Kasbaan got first run on him over course and distance last month and Kuwait Currency posted a comfortable course victory on his previous outing. He is closely matched with Cadre Du Noir (now tried in blinkers) on a line through Pesto and is preferred to in-form Romola, raised 9lb for edging out subsequent scorer Sandret at Newmarket in August. Attainment has won three of his last four but has 7lb more after making all at Chelmsford City.
PURDEY'S GIFT (7.10) has a long absence to overcome in the 1m 2f handicap but looks very well treated on a mark of 74 for Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy. He finished third to El Misk and Rochester House at Newcastle in April and that pair are now rated 93 and 96 respectively.
