SANDRET (5.10) has slipped to a very tasty mark which can be exploited in the 1m 1f handicap at Wolverhampton.
The four-year-old does most of his racing at Newcastle but wasn't beaten far here last November when a running-on fourth from a very wide draw in stall 13. Sandret raced off a 91 rating on that occasion and is 11lb lower today. He bounced back to form when just failing to catch Perfect Swiss at Newcastle last month and Ben Haslam's hold-up performer can arrive on the scene late granted a decent gallop to attack.
GEORGE RIDSDALE (1.45) has dotted up for favourite backers on two previous visits to the track but this new trip of 1m 4f (against slightly better opposition) will test punters’ loyalty. Mick Easterby has given his gelding a well-earned rest and George will be fresh as paint following a 50-day absence.
Surprisingly, the usual powerhouse Newmarket yards are conspicuous by their absence in the 6f Novice Stakes and Julie Camacho could keep the prize up north with QUEST FOR FUN (2.45), narrowly denied by Roger Varian’s Kratos here last month.
