The official going description is yielding which should suit EGLANTINE DU SEUIL (2.50) in today's big mares' championship final. She may have been sent off 50-1 at Cheltenham, but there seemed no fluke about her victory. Willie Mullins is mob-handed but Ruby Walsh has singled out my selection.
At Southwell, TIGRAY (4.45) is worth a bet following his second to in-form Lord Lamington over 1m 5f at Chelmsford City three days ago.
He raced over seven furlongs and a mile at Dundalk for Joseph O'Brien but Mick Appleby wasted little time moving Tigray significantly up in trip for his stable debut. Top weight Fly Nightly chased home a Godolphin winner at Lingfield and rates a threat along with likely favourite Mondain.
GORGEOUS GENERAL (5.15) has a bit to find with Socialites Red but I like the fact that Jack Mitchell replaces a 7lb claimer. Gorgeous General runs the track well and is an each-way price.
At much bigger odds GANG WARFARE (4.50) is worth an ew interest in the two-mile handicap. He isn't the most predictable but his last run when third to Mixboy and Addicted To You over 2m 2f here was a solid effort in this grade. Blinkers replace cheek-pieces. Hurdles winner Nelson Road could be thrown in, while Champarisi won well at Musselburgh from Navajo Star.
