Racing tips: Rich Rhythm can get off the mark in a very average Novice race

The race that The Predictor ran in was extremely odd. The front runner got a 30-length lead and blew the race wide open, setting a frantic pace. The Predictor sat in second place throughout, and I don't think that was ideal as it paid to be well off the pace, where the selection was under the cosh a long way from home whereas the winner was creeping slowly into contention and won this plenty in hand.

Kempton 2:00

FARIBA is a short-priced favourite but probably deserves to be based on her debut effort at Newcastle which is decent form against the horses who have raced in this contest. She was slow away and held up from off the pace, but made good ground in the final furlong, suggesting a longer trip would see her in a better light. Kevin Philippart De Foy and connections have opted for a furlong longer, which should also suit based on her pedigree, and if improving from her first run she'll be hard to beat.

Kempton 3:30

William Haggas remains in top form, currently operating at a 27% SR, so his runner, TAMILLA has to be respected in this. She didn't have to improve too much to win a maiden last time around, hence why she went off at odds of 4/9F, but she did it nicely and looked like a horse who could be competitive in a handicap off a 2lb higher mark.

She seems to handle the AW, shown by a good run at Wolverhampton when finishing 2rd behind Emily Upjohn in November of last year. Wolverhampton is Tapeta and Kempton is Polytrack, so there's no guarantee she'll prefer this surface, but it's a good indicator that she handles a similar surface. I think she will come into her own over this trip, as she is related to some nice horses, including her full sister Precious Ramotswe who won 4 out of her 9 runs for John Gosden, including a Group 3 race over 12f.

Windsor 5:35

Considering how well Eve Johnson Houghton is doing with her 2yo's this year, I think BOY BROWNING will be tough to beat in this Novice race. From the horses who have run, I think the form of Boy Browning is clear of the rest.

They must clearly think a fair amount of this son of Brazen Beau because they pitched him in a Class 2 Glorious Goodwood race. They clearly felt he could hold his own in that race, and to be honest, he ran with plenty of credit despite being friendless in the market, going off at odds of 66/1. He was travelling nicely into the race but was held up and that resulted in him waiting for a room, which didn't appear for a long time. When he eventually got a clear run, he was a fair way off the leaders and ran on nicely to grab 5th behind some nice-looking horses.

Dropping back to a Class 5 Novice full of horses who haven't shown too much should make him tough to beat.

Windsor 6:35

Similar to the last selection, I think RICH RHYTHM could be tough to beat if returning to the form of his debut run. He was very underwhelming last time out at Thirsk, but his debut run was full of promise and very eye-catching.

This race doesn't look strong and it would be a shock if Rich Rhythm didn't return to form now being dropped down in trip. The odds aren't great, but I think they are fairly generous. The winner of the Salisbury race on debut has won since. The fourth has finished as runner-up twice since as well, which bodes well for the form.
