Oxygen was a nice winner on his return to chasing for the in-form Venetia Williams stable. The others were disappointing, but I'd say Onemorefortheroad will win a race in the next couple of races he's put in, he'll fall down the handicap and he might've needed the run.
No jumps racing today, which isn't ideal, but I'll have a dive into the AW racing and see what I can find…
Newcastle 2:30 – Eagle's Realm 7/4 (1pt Bet365)
This is a Class 6 (0-60), but you'd struggle to find a worse race than this for a good few months as this is honking. There are four horses in this running off a mark of 46, and some of them are out of the handicap! I'm not going to lie, this type of racing doesn't get my juices flowing and definitely seems a bit dodgy, but if Eagle's Realm can't follow up his recent win, then I'd be gobsmacked.
This horse hails from the David Killahena & Graeme McPherson jumps yard, which is based in Stow-on-the-Wold and sends a rare runner up to Newcastle which is a 520 miles and 10-hour round trip, which is a crazy long way to travel for £3,140 prize money and a Class 6 race.
This is also an apprentice race, and connections have managed to secure a very good 3lb claimer in Brandon Wilkie. Brandon's claim puts the horse back on the same handicap mark as when Hollie Doyle won on him 19 days ago. This is arguably a weaker race, having won a 0-65 and this is a 0-60. There are a lot of positives for him, he handles the surface nicely, travelled well into the race last time out and stayed on strongly to suggest this trip is what he wants, especially on this track where there is a longer straight when turning for home.

It’s thee auld ‘Money back as free bet if 2nd or 3rd’ promotion and nothing to go mad on but it went in my notes after a win in June 22 and also had a good 2nd in 100k nursery handicap but nothing much thereafter? Some signs of revival last run while carrying a big weight and hes a stone lighter today in a bit better race

Not going to lie, I thought he had no chance down the back straight. The horse refused to settle, but this is why having the better claimers on your horses in the apprentice races is so key. He knew he couldn’t settle him, decided to let the horse go as if he was to keep fighting him he’d just blow up when turning for home.

Olly Murphy record with chasers this season is really poor not sure of numbers but hes only had 3 or 4 at most from about 40 which made me put a line through fav even though its just had a wind op.
Harry Derham 43 % strike rate with his chasers with 3 from 7. New to the stable from Kim Bailey just a couple of weeks ago. Won over this distance over hurdles in April on last run on the same ground as tomorrow’s. Expecting this to see money overnight.
