Wolverhampton 12.30
JUNGLE CAPERS (12.30) went down as a future winner when runner-up on handicap debut and will be hard to beat in the opener at Wolverhampton.
Mick Channon's gelding showed precious little in novice/maiden company but he made good use of his very low handicap rating when caught close home by Rebel Redemption at Chelmsford City. This drop to the minimum trip should suit and Jungle Capers, in receipt of the three-year-old allowance, is nicely berthed in stall three.
Musselburgh 2.25
BORDERS trainer Alistair Whillans should be worth following at Musselburgh and COURT BALOO (2.25) can cover festive expenses in the 3m handicap hurdle.
The gelding reeled off a hat-trick of victories in October/November and acquitted himself well when stepped up in grade at Wetherby, running third to Dubai Angel in early December.
This wouldn’t be the strongest event and Court Baloo looks a bit of value against dual course winner Chanceanotherfive and Petite Ganache. Seven lengths separated that pair when they clashed here in November but runner-up Petite Ganache is 15lb better off.
Chanceanotherfive has gone on to score here over fences and is clearly in good fettle. Mick Easterby’s Roycano justified favouritism at Fakenham in February and should go well under top weight.
Musselburgh 1.55
WISE COCO (1.55) represents the Whillans stable in the 2m handicap hurdle and the mare’s third to Frightened Rabbit at Carlisle in early November puts her in the mix.
Wise Coco had Blooriedotcom more than 12 lengths back in fifth but Lucinda Russell’s gelding has since outrun his 28-1 price at Kelso when third to Temple Man.
Wise Coco landed a lovely touch at Perth in September when sent off 2-1 favourite and may be too strong for Fourth Of July and Life Knowledge, runner-up to Wot A Shot (runs 1.20) on this card 12 months ago.
Friday Night Racing Contest
Don't miss the chance to compete against each other for a bit of fun on Friday Night. I've create a Friday Night Racing contest on the Who Knows Wins app, with six races from Southwell's evening meeting featured.
It's just a £2 buy-in and the more people who play the bigger the prize pool will be so get involved. All the details can be found here.
Had some success with this bet over the past week or so, so I’ll post today, not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s good if you just love watching the racing too, betting race to race it’s easy to spend a lot so I stick to a solid stake and watch through out…..
12:50 Veiled Secret to place 11/8 (3 places)
1:20 Titus Bolt 5/2
2:25 Chanceofanotherfive 10/3
3 Irish Roe 15/8
12:30 Sarsaparilla Kit 5/1
1 Griggy 7/4
2:35 Singing Sheriff 10/3
3:10 Invitational 5/6
3:45 Nehaall 7/4
1:40 Say the Word 9/2
3:55 Getaway Totherock 5/4
5:15 The Weed Machine 4/5
5:45 Shine Baby Shine 3/1
1:55 Blooriedotcom 11/4
60p doubles = £54.60 total stake
** posting stake as it’s easier to post a return, again it’s a fun bet that gives you a good run and chance of good returns too!
BOL all today
decent idea, may be worth a go on a saturday where there is more, and better racing.
i’d also utilise the place market a lot more, you used 1 place bet out of 14, i’d probably opt for nearer a half and half mix. 8/11’s etc. to place will add up and are obviously better than a 5/1 win bet that finishes 2nd.
i’d opt for trebles, you can spend less and win more. it’s 7 less bets doing trebles if you pick 9 selections in stead of 14.
with 60p doubles, 7 even money winners (50%) in this strategy returns a £4 loss. whilst 8 winners (66%) at evens returns £12 profit. doing trebles, 5 even money winners out of 9 (55%) wins you £4. if you get 6 (also 66%), then you’ve almost doubled your money (90% return)
also, if all 14 of your picks come in, 91 winning bets at even money returns £162 profit whereas 81 winning treble bets returns £352 profit.
Yeah I get what you mean database but if it’s a larger priced winner then returns differ a great deal more than a top 3 finish etc. 3 seconds today too, one at 15/2 which will give a £5.10 on every other horse and that’s just off one, it is worth a thought though to be fair as more winning bets is obviously more profitable! Just hard to pick a place bet because if they win returns shoot and I’ll be fuming 😂
I’ve also tried it with in putting the doubles myself so the returns equal £20 no matter what doubles come in, time consuming to say the least though!
i don’t care for 60p doubles, £60 doubles barely get my juices going :D but smth to look at. i’d definitely recommend 9 selections trebled over 14 doubled though.
to make £391 profit, you need 10 3/1 winners out of 14 doing 60p doubles. 71% (to make £307 profit you need 5 3/1 winners doing trebles. 55%)
if i picked 10 3/1 winners and won less than £400 from a £50 stake, i’d be gutted.
maybe lowering your stake but not backing any horse shorter than 3/1 would also be better.
think a level stake slow and steady is the only way to do it if you want to grind money though. all you need to do is study handicap paper form and as long as you know your stuff (look at in form trainer/jockey combos, certain combos do better in certain silks also, then try pick up on trends on when the horse wins etc. then obviously check the rating, class of race and distance and going to see if it has a chance, do this on all races before betting and you’ll be able to discount half the field at least) and have a 100 bet bankroll you simply will struggle to lose, just by using logic and math, dont even need to know what a horse looks like… only mugs go and sit in bookies betting, might as well be playing bingo, you’re literally shooting blind.
