IT'S been a difficult year with very few horses getting the run of the race. I have always said you also need luck but that has certainly deserted us this year.
When your unlucky horses lose it makes your bad selections look worse but I never let it get to me. On Sunday it started with NARJES and I have already given my views on that race.
SILVER KAYF was up next and she was the worst one out of the four performance wise. She ran a bit keen up front but jumped well especially when being asked to attack the hurdles.
She tried to lead all the way and looked an easy winner three out but the early keenness didn’t help her late on. Up next was the Nap TELLOVOI, I said in my write-up that if he was ridden closer to the pace I would be confident, so it was probably guaranteed that he would be held up at the back.
He plugged on down the straight without ever looking like getting near the winner, the jockey wasn’t too hard on the horse so is worth keeping an eye on.
The last selection WITHOUT LIMITES I thought was as unlucky as NARJES. Again I thought we had the best horse in the race but paid dearly for doing too much too early as he had a right battle with Milsean right from the start.
It didn’t do either horse any good and while Milsean dropped away to be well beat Without Limites was only beaten about four lengths with those early exertions taking their toll.

Wolverhampton 3:10
A Sure Welcome isn’t drawn as wide as he was last time, that high draw was probably enough to cost him the race. It made him do too much too soon and he paid for it late on. His run before that was a win and he was drawn better in stall 2, he sat third getting a good tow into the race and hit the front in the straight. He seems to be thriving over this course and distance although I wouldn’t mind seeing him run over five furlongs.
