Racing tips: Paisley Park will prove his class in the Long Distance Hurdle

Nelson's Rock was a well supported winner yesterday, going off at EVS. He clearly appreciated the step up in trip, and will be even better when he makes the transition to fences.

PAISLEY PARK doesn't appear to be the same horse he was a couple of years ago, and it wouldn't surprise me if they go down the chase route at some point during this season. However, this doesn't look all that strong for a Long Distance Hurdle renewal, and he can win this despite the fact the ground isn't going to be testing, and when you combine that with a flat track, it might be tougher than expected.

I thought his reappearance run was a good return to racing, but it showed that he is the same horse where he'll hit a flat spot, and run on extremely well in dying embers. He was a drifter before the off at Wetherby, which suggests that Emma Lavelle had him under cooked and he would progress for the run. If that is the case, then I do think he will reverse the form with Indefatigable, who doesn't receive as much weight as she did last time out, and she is often inconsistent, and when she runs a blinder, she doesn't really follow it up. As for the rest, I'm not so sure that they are good enough. Mrs Milner is an interesting runner for the Irish trainer Paul Nolan, but she has to improve plenty to beat Paisley, and prove she is good enough.

A horse who I put up a few months ago, and was somewhat unlucky not to be better placed than 4th was EYEOFTHESCORPION. I think this kind of race will be suited perfectly for him, as he is a thorough stayer at this trip, and the big field should ensure that a proper pace is set, and I can envisage him slicing through the field and travelling extremely well under Paddy Brennan who will deliver him late.

Handicaps like these are obviously not easy to win, but the fact he is weighted towards the bottom is a big boost. He is only 122 rated and that means he is racing off 10st 6lbs, which is the third bottom weight. Paddy Brennan prefers this ride to his stablemate, Polish, who also appears to have a decent enough chance. Also, the quick surface that we are getting for this time of year should suit this horse, as he appears to prefer better ground, rather than soft.
