Safe to say it was a bad idea to back the John McConnell raiders at Ayr yesterday, both were absolutely shocking, thankfully it was low stakes on them, so not much was lost.
Fakenham 4:20 – Tommie Beau 8/1 (1pt EW PPower 4pl)
Tommie Beau was my selection in the Fakenham National last year, I fancied him a lot for that race last year and though he made hard work of it, he managed to win and do it in the manner of a real stayer. I've had this horse in the back of my mind for this race in particular for a fair few months, so to see him win the race before last was frustrating as his handicap mark went up a few pounds and that wouldn't help his chances for today, but it proves he's in good form.
To say he's in good form might be confusing as his recent run was well below par, but I think you've got to look past that effort as his run before that was very good on the eye and horses aren't robots, they can put in bad performances from time to time, even when they won the time before. I'm willing to forgive him for that effort; even his trainer was surprised by it and had no explanation for why it happened.
This race would've been the plan for Tommie, as we've seen many occasions where a horse returns to retain his crown in a race they won 12 months before. This is a race which is tailor-made for him, as he stays on strongly in his races and he is very good around this track, recording 3 wins from his 4 runs at Fakenham. The ground isn't a concern as he bolted up on soft ground a couple of months ago and the handicap rating he is on is only 1lb higher than when winning this race last year.

Wide open but think underestimating Fabre horse here that’s rare ot more likely probably not?? Take the chance anyway
