THE handicapper is going to catch up with PLATFORM NINETEEN (4.00) before the season is out but Michael Bell can coax another win out of his improving three-year-old in the two-miler at York.
Platform Nineteen is up 5lb after completing a hat-trick at Beverley last month but a decent gallop will play to his strengths as he likes to come late.
PASSION AND GLORY (2.20) is a different type altogether as he is a lightly-raced three-year-old making his handicap debut. Saeed Bin Suroor's colt emerged with credit in two good Novice Stakes events before making all to win unchallenged at Windsor. He could be chucked in at the weights, with Cieren Fallon taking off 5lb.
Dakota Gold, ante-post favourite for the Ayr Gold Cup, will be all the rage in the feature sprint, but DANZENO (2.55) was a recommended bet last week before being pulled out to wait for this engagement. Mick Appleby could hardly be in better form and Danzeno was a bit unlucky over course and distance back in May when unable to get a clear run before staying on into third behind George Bowen. He was poorly drawn in the Beverley Bullet when a close fourth to Judicial and is the ew call at around 9-2.
With William Hill and Paddy Power offering five places in the concluding 1m 4f apprentices' handicap I'll be having an ew punt on APPOINTED (5.00). Tim Easterby's mare finished fourth of 19 in a similar event on the Knavesmire in June and has been dropped 2lb on the back of her recent fourth at Ripon. Danny Redmond takes off 3lb. Irish raider Shamad has been priced up favourite in the belief he is well treated on his UK debut.
