The weather is starting to get on my nerves, not only because I have to defrost my car in the morning at -9 degrees, but it's making all of my selections non-runners!
Ffos Las was called off, quite late as well, and that saw Fergal O'Brien shout about how they left it so late. My other selection at Southwell was a NR, but that wasn't due to the weather, and I'm not quite sure why he didn't run.

Finger's crossed Kempton gets the green light and goes ahead, as my only selection runs at their night meeting.
This is a competitive race, full of horses who have been running against each other and are closely matched. I can see why punters and bookies are swaying towards those specific horses, but at the prices I am interested in backing the once very smart MOSS GILL. This horse used to have tonnes of ability and plenty of speed, but he his form has took a nose dive in the last year, but this is a step down in grade and I think he is worth one final chance now against easier opposition, if he gets battered then it's a fair comment that he has declined a fair amount, but if his ability stands, he could win this and win it in good style.
His recent run at Newcastle wasn't as bad as the bare form looks. Yes he finished 7th/9 but he was slow out of the gates and wasn't really asked for maximum effort. P J Mcdonald looked after him that day, never reaching for the stick and gave him a nice return under hands and heels after being off the track for 171 days. With that run under his belt I think he will be a more lively contender in this race, and the jockey booking of William Buick screams they are confident of a return to form.
Touching on his previous classy form, he finished 3rd in the 2020 Nunthorpe behind Battaash and won and been placed in multiple Class 1 races. Edward Bethell doesn't send many runners to Kempton from his North-Yorkshire base (1 since he started training) and though his sole runner didn't win, it goes to show that he won't send many unless he believes they can return with prize money or capable of a big run.
