MARRONNIER (3.20) looks the best bet on a tempting punting card at Sandown Park. Stuart Williams' gelding beat Dreammaker over course and distance earlier this month and the runner-up has since hosed up by four lengths when heavily-backed at Haydock. Marronnier was conceding 10lb as well, so the form stacks up quite impressively. Newbury scorer Match Maker is an obvious danger and helps make the market.
AMOROUSLY (3.55) is trading at a nice price in the fillies' handicap. The daughter of Australia gave the leaders too much rope over a mile at Windsor before running on into third. Earlier in the season she beat Beguiling Charm at Leicester on quick ground and that horse won last night at the Midlands track.
ELIGIBLE (4.25) can defy top weight for Clive Cox. He chased home Motawaj at Kempton and that form was made to look good when the winner scooted home by six lengths here last night.
STARCZEWSKI (3.40) has the chance to shed his maiden tag at Yarmouth. He must be a source of frustration to connections, throwing away a couple of races by hanging quite badly under pressure before running on. Jamie Spencer takes over the reins and Starczewski should have the measure of another consistent sort in Starfighter.
At Newbury this evening, SOPHOSC (7.05) is too big a price at 6-1 with William Hill. The top weight is a battler and went down only narrowly to in-form Corncake at Doncaster a fortnight ago. He was a Goodwood winner in June and represents a bit of value against hot-pot Incredulous.
