IT'S back to normality after the exhilarating highs and lows of Cheltenham week and punters have their pick of four Monday meetings.

There's racing from Plumpton, Southwell, Exeter and Navan and as usual feel free to add your own picks.

Alan's sole Monday tip has now been posted and due to technical problems there's no write-up for it.

Great to have to back John B. Why not come back for good? Your insights and tips are hugely appreciated.

Johnb’s been welcomed back with open arms which is good to see.
I used to get stick for defending him during a bad run but I understand all tipsters have good and bad runs.
One of the best examples of that is the Racing Post’s golf tipster Steve Palmer. Last year he picked an incredible of amount of winners but this year he can’t pick his nose.
He says he#s started to doubt himself but I’m sure his form will return sooner rather than later.

1430s DEADLY APPROACH represents the value pick to me in this competitive race. the Skelton’s Savello lost to current fav Deise Vu by 17 lengths, that was his first run for a few months and he has been dropped another 4lbs since which are all positives. Deise Vu has lost his 3lb claim and was raised an extra 5lbs, which is enough for me to look elsewhere at the 11/8 price available. The selection is a lot younger than his rivals and I will be chancing him after a 12lb drop for a decent 3rd in class 3 race 2 starts back, not to mention his trainer/jockey had a winner LTO and are in generally good form. IF Jason Dixon loses this race, he has 1 more in the 405, which I had a quick look at and it isn’t without a chance.

NdB is in sparkling form. He has two rides today at Southell. In a NH flat race, IMPERIAL KNIGHT 2/1 was 5lbs better off when a .75l 2nd, chasing home a horse who latterly was an 11 length winner off 133, Larkborrow Lad represents top connections too and makes this race interesting, he is dropped 2lbs and drops in class after being 2nd off 128 but he is dropped 4f and

1615e Manofthemoment is down in class and 10lbs lower than his race LTO, he has poor form figures but this is only his 2nd rated race and despite a skinny 9/4, I am going to chance him.

14 days later, a 12lb swing helps the skelton’s manage a 35 length turn-around with deise vu, miraculous. although i saw he had a much better chance this time, that is still quiet the feat. my pick saw money, ran ok for a little and then fell off the face of the earth.

selection 2 just fails by half a length, Nico absolutely bottles the last when neck and neck and pays the price. shame on him, bit too posh to push me thinks.

5/2 winner to end the day, meaning small profit after a bad speculative pick and a close 2nd.

  11. Johnb 5 years ago

Another couple of bets, I do like a Hunter Chase and this one is the same owner as yesterday’s NAP winner Road To Riched, the 6 or more lengths should be easy enough for Diplomate Sivola and I also think over 12 is very much achievable but with more risk obviously, beware though as distance betting comes with its risks as horses winning easy usually get eased down

    Exeter
    5:45
4/5 skybet DIPLOMATE SIVOLA to win by 6 lengths or more (NB)

6/4 skybet DIPLOMATE SIVOLA to win by over 12 lengths

    • recoba 5 years ago

Nothing worse than a jockey easing down when you have a distance bet on.
Can’t really grumble with it but. 6L looks good to me John.

hi mate, i am with you here, EW just for safety, but your selection beat a horse who has won 3 in a row, a horse who has only had 6 races, 4 wins, a 2nd and a 3rd. when your selection was beating him, he did so by 12 lengths and the 2nd place had 5lbs taken off his back, something he didnt have for his last 3 winners, his two most recent runs he won off 124 and 130, beating skidoosh who went out next time to win… 6/1 now, looks a good spot albeit against 2 very short market rivals.

wow fair play to JJ Slevin he made sure that horse came 3rd, thank god.

  14. 5 years ago

on saturday, a 1/4 shot went to evens overnight, whilst the 4/1 shot was backed into evens and duly obliged. in the last race at plumpton, a supposed 1/2 shot is now 5/4 whilst an opening 8/1 shot is now 7/4, with STD booked, and his only other ride looking unlikely to reap rewards, it is one to have a look at. i have a treble, 3 4folds and 2 5folds all still live. perfect getaway is involved in every single one. my best chance is a £3.50 5fold for £500, I need JB nap and ALL THE CHIMNEYS, my current cash out is £70. i cannot see myself cashout out but, sticking that £70 elsewhere may be a real possibility… if I put £70 on JB nap, EYES RIGHT and diplomate sivola, i could get £300, 1 of those would need to win for me anyway, DS seems 100% certainty, and eyes right looks good, but would mean £200 less.. but swapping a horse for a much safer option.. although alan put a spanner in the workds backing against EYES.

ATC has the beating of the 2nd fav on paper it cannot be beaten by it, however, Angus Milan drops in trip which may be a good thing for me.. but he is a massive 9lbs better off for his 2nd LTO..

With all due respect considering you give out advice regarding bank maintenance and selection process you must be one of the absolutely worst gamblers iv seen . You have been if front thousands , down and up again and you still don’t take your own advice . What are you trying to win ? What’s your aim ? . You have already told us you work and gamble payday to payday so obviously no obligations. Singles singles singles is THE only way for long term profits . I took early retirement and made a living , a five figure a year living for the last 11 years . I don’t get bog , boosts and on bf can’t bet before 8 am on any days racing , count up the winners you’ve had and ones let you down .get a grip of your betting man otherwise you will end up a sad shop iwasgonna punter

when you have nothing, it is easier to gamble everything. i know the situation i put myself in, and i know i make terrible decisions, gambling with food money, chasing for no reason, i make poor choices and dont have the right mindset to win at the game, despite knowing a decent amount to be able to make small gains daily. i am far to greedy and impatient which is a never ending revolving door of losing. i just saw my horse go from 5/2 fav out to 5/1, i analyse markets, i knew 99.99% the horse could not win, yet I decided to turn down the offer, which was almost equal to my entire remaining bankroll.

best of luck, until i figure things out, looks like i must now get a job, a fun 6 months. :D

  18. 5 years ago

all the chimneys 5/2 to 5/1 and cash out remained the same, couldnt bring myself to do it despite ATC now having 0.01% chance of winning after that drift.
