THERE were no winners for me on Saturday but I was impressed with Purser, I still think he will be the one for next years' 2000 Guineas.
I'm now 5pts down for September and well done all who bagged a Saturday winner.
Johnb's Sunday Tips

Course form is vital at Brighton and Buxted Dream won here last time out, the manner of the win was impressive as he was quite keen early on but finished his race off well. he runs here just 1lb higher than that win and should be able to get the hat-trick up with Luke Morris taking over from Pat Cosgrave. That is a slight worry but he has ridden the horse before.

- Magical Thomas 5-2 NAP paddy power
This horse has been raised 3lb for his last run which isn't much with the form being boosted with the second Hermosa Vaquera winning since, albeit a flat race. Magical Thomas jumped well enough making the running and he battled well to win after the first two came very close together on the run in. I would like to see him settle better though but it looks like Neil Mulholland has got to the bottom of this horse and he could go on a bit of a winning streak now.

Try to be more positive and focus on the tips.
Level stakes is not the be all and end all. Each race is different and each bet should be adjusted accordingly, points require a bank, 10pts from one tipper may be the same value as 2pts from another. At least it helps gage the tippers confidence. Remember to be constructive, we are one against bookmakers.

Can someone kindly explain what the term “running from out of the handicapp” means?
No racing expert but I think it means the horse is carrying more weight than it should. Read that somewhere when it was mentioned before.
Horse ratings are always changing, from what I understand, it’s when a horse is running before its rating changes e.g. a horse rated 65 runs on saturday at 65, but has already been selected to go up to 68 for example, the horse is effectively 3lbs “well in”, it can work the other way where a 70 rated horse is due to go down to 64, in essence he is carrying an extra 6lbs.
It’s when a horses rating is less than the minimum weight for the handicap. Eg. Min weight may be 8st 8 lb but the horses rating would mean it should carry 8st 4 lbs ergo 4 lbs out of the handicap

John, personally I don’t fancy purser judged on that run. Is it his breeding that makes him a strong fancy?
The breeding isn’t the best and is probably the least best factor in my view, I just have an ability of spotting horses that are open to vast amounts of improvement, I can see which horses are likely to train on the following year, spotting early talent is something I have done for years, Purser isn’t as strong a pick as Clemmie and Magical but he is good and we haven’t seen half of his ability yet
