TWO seconds on Saturday and it seems to be the story of the year, especially horses getting beat a neck or less.
November 20.16pts down, well done all winners and good luck Sunday.
Coillte Lass is a horse that caught my eye on a visit to the Nicholls yard. Connections aren’t worried about a disappointing run last time on her chasing debut as the ground that day was too firm. I liked the look of this horse when schooling, she looked quite impressive and even the connections have said she has improved. She may be up against a short priced favourite in Robin Of Locksley but for me Coillte Lass is the one to beat.
Ozzy The Oscar is the outsider of three but 8-1 really is too big. He was third in last season's County hurdle behind Arctic Fire and L’ami Serge but was always going to make a better chaser and on chasing debut he didn’t disappoint with a comfortable win against 148 rated Shantou Rock. That was an impressive performance under the champion jockey and with any amount of improvement I think he has a real chance at 8-1.
Ballygomartin is a horse I like for the long term. His win last time probably wasn’t expected as a 16-1 shot but he beat a well fancied 6-5 favourite and that was a really strong race. He ran in the Nigel Twiston-Davies colours that day but has been sold since but still runs for the same yard. I fancy him to take this today on the way to better things.
