OI THE CLUBB OI'S (5.40) has been found a soft staying handicap at Nottingham and should justify favouritism under Jim Crowley. The gelding, a course winner last July, kept good company over hurdles this winter, his best run being a close third to Quel Destin in a Grade 2 hurdle at Doncaster.
Crowley has another tasty mount in HTILOMINLO (3.20), closely matched with Mayfair Spirit on their run at Salisbury at the end of April. Htilominlo went on to finish a tight second to Takumi at Goodwood, with the winner subsequently splitting a pair of useful sorts, Global Heat and Sameem, at Ripon. Htilominlo was out of his depth in a fiercely competitive Newbury handicap won by Headman last time but is back in his own grade wearing first-time cheek-pieces.
At Chantilly, Persian King is a short price to land the French Derby for Andre Fabre but I can't resist a modest each-way bet on SURFMAN (3.25). He has been brought along very steadily and bypassed yesterday's Epsom Classic to run here. Odds of 12-1 (four places) represent some value.
