Nina The Terrier was yet another faller for us yesterday, and at the time of the fall she wasn't travelling the best, but you never know how horses respond to pressure, but it's hard to envisage her beating the winner. She did seem to get up okay and hopefully she hasn't suffered any injuries.
Fairyhouse 1:05
This race will be an eye-opener for what Novice hurdlers are up to the top level this season and will be playing for big Grade 1 prizes later on in the season. This is a Grade 1, and it looks a competitive affair as you'd imagine, but the horse I'm siding with is the mare, IMPERVIOUS.
I tipped this mare up last time when she ran at Down Royal in the Grade 3 at the back end of October. That day she was carrying a penalty, and she still managed to win by 5L, doing it easily in the end. Obviously, this race is going to be tougher than that, now she is competing against the boys, but I do think she is capable of that task, and as a result, she is the one who will be receiving weight, which is always a benefit. She is a horse who is versatile in terms of trip, like we saw last time. She has the pace for the minimum trip, but also stays further, and is generally a good jumper. I think a good gallop at this trip is what will see her at her best, as she does get low over the hurdles, and does have the stamina, but also a turn of foot, which is weird to say as you wouldn't really combine those two adjectives.
The ground shouldn't be an issue, no matter what ground she runs on, as she has won on Good-to-soft, and has won on soft. I think her current odds at the time of writing are very good, and she is good value against the boys.
Fairyhouse 1:35
Another horse who seems good value at the early stages of the market is CAPE GENTLEMAN. For whatever reason it appears punters are forgetting how impressive he was in his two chases before the last, where he finished 2nd and wasn't disgraced by any means.
If the selection came into this race on the back of those two wins, I do believe he would be vying for favourtism, but because he was heavily beaten by Riviere D'etel last time out at Punchestown, people seem to think he's not that good, which is definitely not the case. When you consider the task Cape Gentleman had against the Gordon Elliot horse, it was near on impossible for him to win that race, now knowing the ability that horse has. He was giving away 18lbs to the winner that day, due to the weight for age allowance, as well as the sex allowance as the winner is a mare. Cape Gentleman was still 8L ahead of Embittered that day, who was an easy winner of a Grade 3 the time before, so that goes to show that it wasn't a bad run.
Back in this kind of race where he won't be giving away a silly amount of weight, he will be seen in a better light for sure. This trip might also be ideal for him, as he has won over this trip previously, plus the fact he stays 2m on the flat, that normally means they are better by a fair few more furlongs over obstacles. He seems to be versatile in terms of ground, as he has won on Good ground before on a couple of occasions, so if that's the ground he gets, he should be okay. I just think he is being underestimated as punters edge towards the horses who come into this race with a 1 next to their name from their most recent race.

Favs have a very good recent record in this race with 5 of the last 6 winning and I think it will be 6 of the last 7.
MMM was really impressive at Punchestown beating Barbados by 8L. He jumped to his right lto but still won in fine style, and back on a right handed track for this I think he will take all the beating. Impervious getting 7lbs must come into the equation but I think she needs to find more to trouble the fav and I hope Three Stripe Life will lack the speed over this trip as I have him at 50s for the AB.
1.35 Midnight Run 12/1 ew
Was coming to challenge Gabynako at the last fence lto but made a bad mistake which cost him the race. I think the drop back in trip will help and the difference in price between the two horses tomorrow just doesn’t make sense based on that run.
3.10 Autumn Evening 9/1 ew 6 places NAP
Was ahead of Teahupoo coming to the last lto when falling. Considering that horse is now rated 149, looks very well h’capped here off 133.

what did it for me was, it was 7/4, drifted to 7/4 and then BOOM late it is SMASHED into 5/4, ok yeah big red flag for me, smart money would’ve been on already and looked a big fake move to trick people. boom boom.

when the studio guest tells you pre race to be on the outside, but only one jockey “knew”.. gaia vallis goes to 150/1 in running to win. the perfect 1-2 for me but probably didn’t win 0.01% as some in the know.
