When a horse running a three runner race, turns into a two runner race, and still can't manage to win is a bit of a disaster. That is what happened to my sole selection of Friday. It's annoying he didn't win, but you can't exactly say he deserved to win at any stage. His jumping was absolutely pathetic, and he paid the price, as well as the fact that he looks like a horse who doesn't have the urge to win.

Saturday's have and always will be tough, and is often seen to favour the bookies due to the competitiveness of racing on offer. I've fell in the trap recently of putting up a fair few selections on the busy days, and it rarely pays off. With it being so close to Cheltenham, going silly and blowing the bank wouldn't be clever, so it's just the one selection for me today.
It's a weird decision to have the Imperial Cup held so close to Cheltenham, as it's a great handicap race, which offers good prize money. With it being this close to Cheltenham you'd think that horses would either run in this or at the festival, but it is known for horses to run in both, with the County Hurdle normally being the target. There used to be a bonus available if a horse won this and went on to win the County Hurdle, but it doesn't appear that offer is still available.
5yo's have a good record in this race, with that age group winning five times in the last ten renewals. There's no real surprise to see 5yo's having a good record in this race, as they are more than likely the most unexposed horses in the races. HYSTERY BERE fits that bill, and looks to have plenty of ability, and hopefully a mark of 130 is within reach.
Sandown was expected to get a few millimetres of rain on Friday, so hopefully that did arrive, and the ground will remain on the Good To Soft, or even change to Soft, as that would be best for this horse. He clearly handles faster conditions, shown when finishing 3rd at Cheltenham at the back end of January, but Ideally, softer ground would be what he wants. This lad seems to stay the minimum trip very well, so Sandown should suit, as it is a stiff track and puts emphasis on stamina. It wouldn't surprise me to see him off the bridle before a lot of the horses in this contest, but he will be staying strongly up the hill, whether it'll be good enough, we'll have to see, but he will definitely be fighting for the places, and he is a cracking EW bet. He struggled coming down the hill at Cheltenham, but when he met the rising ground, he powered up the hill, but ran out of track to reel the front two in. The form of that race has been boosted, with the winner going in again last weekend in another big pot handicap at Newcastle.
Tom Symonds, the trainer of Hystery Bere, said that they've protected his mark for this race, and that's why he hasn't been seen for 42 days. He has freshened him up for this race, and all the signs are there for a big run. He is currently priced around 8/1 and with bookmakers offering extra places on this race, he is a solid EW play.

I’ve had a small ew on Kihivah 20/1 6 places who ticks most of the boxes. 2lb rise for winning lto but the 2nd came out and boosted the form. Jockey takes 3lbs off too.
