It does wind me up when you have a bet on a horse and they are given a public schooling, which is what happened with Our Follet at Carlisle. Hardly surprising to see it happen considering he was weak before the off, but it just ruins it for punters who get no run for the money and it's far too difficult to police and sort out, so owners and trainers will continue to do it. Strange for Gavin Sheehan to go up to Carlisle for the one ride for that to happen.

Musselburgh 1:55 – Hello Judge 2/1 (1pt, Bet365)

This has to be one of the worst days of racing I've seen in a long time, and that's impressive with two jumps cards on offer. My advice would be to keep your money in your pocket, as there are better days ahead, especially after Christmas time when you get your quality racing.

Thankfully, Hello Judge made enough of an appeal for me to have a bet on Monday, but it was coming close to a no-bet day for me. This race doesn't look great, many question marks over the majority of the field, and I think Hello Judge can win a race like this with a fair bit in hand if he sorts out the errors from his terrible round of jumping at Newcastle last time out.

I tipped Hello Judge up last time out, and I thought he'd be difficult to beat that day, especially with the amount of weight he was getting from Cruz Control, but as I mentioned, his jumping was shoddy and full of mistakes. Maybe a return to a right-handed track will sort those issues out, as he put in a solid round of jumping at Carlisle the time before which has been a strong form line to follow. The runner-up has since finished 2nd and 3rd on his next two starts, in Class 3 and 2 contests. The 3rd, 6th and 9th have won since, and the 7th has run nicely in defeat.

We know Hello Judge stays the trip, he'll handle the ground and I think he's on a good handicap mark if he can iron out those jumping mistakes. As for this field, Dancewiththewind clearly has some issues as he was never at the races at Kelso, pulled up after jumping just three fences. I don't think Restandbethankful is on a particularly good handicap mark, and his stamina on soft ground over this trip is up for debate. The others are just really out of form and cannot be touched.

Going well when unseating here last time out.
This is a poor looking class 4 and has a chance if the jockey doesn’t decide to get off this time

    Hello judge 1-55 musselburgh 2-1 NAP 🏇.
rizzell has done a write up above, won class 4 then chased home 2 horses who ran well at Doncaster on Saturday finishing 3rd, now down to class 4 again in a winnable looking race.

    Machining Valley -R 8…Weekend Retreat 8/1 Bet365 Ew ***+

Erik Barbaran has an excellent record at this track and a few times iv been on a horse that’s won from really bad positions and thought that was a great ride by the jockey and after a check it’s no surprise it’s Erik B! So along with good track work and a trainer that’s had 14 debut wins from 41 over the this year I’ll go with him to hopefully make at least top 3.
