GRAND ROCK (3.50) has proven winning form on deep ground and that will be a considerable asset at Pontefract.
William Haggas and James Doyle teamed up to land a three-runner Conditions Stakes at Epsom (heavy) with Grand Rock, a previous winner on soft at Hamilton. The partnership remains intact.
ARROWTOWN (4.50) was given too much to do by his apprentice rider at York, making up an awful lot of ground in fourth, and looks the answer to the Phil Bull Conditions Stakes. He handles the mud well.
At Southwell, GLOBAL EXCEED (7.30) should go well at decent odds in the mile handicap. He ran a fine third to Insurplus in a better race at Newcastle and has form on the Fibresand, having finished fourth to speedy Crosse Fire off a mark of 70. Global Exceed is down to a rating of 61 and Gemma Tutty takes off 3lb. Atalanta Queen showed battling qualities to cut down Break The Silence (runs 7.00) last week and must go well under a small 3lb penalty.

One of the best dual purpose horses of recent times for me and a sad loss for all connections.

Bridgewater has a few at Plumpton yet his main man Brendan Powell isn’t aboard any, despite being at the track, and on that basis, should be avoided IMO.

Going back to Paris Longchamp, quote in Racing Post: Villa Marina might run well at a price. I thought that will do me, so I rolled with it and took a chance. Paid dividends won at 22/1, more luck than judgement, but that’s gambling all luck, if your lucks in you roll with it.

I watched Rodin on Andrews 3f woodchip gallop last week and i was very impressed. The 5f today isn’t ideal, he will be 7f/1m horse, but the going today will negate this. Andrew was bullish about him yesterday after chatting on the phone.
The odds have come in as expected and i expect it to shorten even more. The 5/2 available is still well worth taking.

Melvyn put up ROLLERDICE at the weekend, is out again in 8 minutes, drops a massive 2 furlongs but has won over this distance before and likes cut in the ground, the claimer takes off the penalty too so maybe is each way interest.
ALAN tipped BREAK THE SILENCE recently, it lead all the way and was reeled in, basically a neck 3rd, he’s been nudged up 2lbs but is out again quickly.
When last winning over CD, back in 4th was FLY TRUE, he was 2 lengths behind but carried 19lbs more whereas today he carries 8 more.
He is around 6s but evens (same price as fav to win) for a top 3 finish in the 1900
I will pair him up with ORANGE BLOSSOM to place in the 1800, alan’s SMASHED IN Tutty horse (1930) to place and cross my fingers with lto debut winner Burke/Curtis combo FINERY (evens 1800)
