Racing Tips: German raider Novemba can bounce back

Both of yesterday's selections ran below par. It was a similar performance for Elegant Charm who travelled well until the business end then when asked to go win the race found nothing. 

Morando didn’t run too badly even though finishing last. The quality of the race fell apart with 2 runners being pulled out and the eventual winner did it in good style in the end.

There’s some good racing on show at Doncaster tomorrow which is where I’ve gone fishing tomorrow for a winner.

Novemba 7/2 – Doncaster 3:35

This looks a cracking and the most competitive race on the card as you can make cases for plenty of runners within the field.

I really fancy the chances of the German runner Novembra. I don’t normally tip up horses who are brought over from outside the UK and Ireland but the last time I did I picked out a winner in the shape of Rocchigiani who won under the strong drive of Tom Marquand on the day.

To the eye Novembas form figures don’t look too appetising however if you go into depth into the previous runs Novembra has run consistently well at a good level against good opposition.

Novemba hasn’t won since last May but today looks a great opportunity to put an end to that.

Novemba finished 4th in the 2021 Coronation Stakes. She finished only 4/5 lengths behind the almighty Baaeed in the Moulin and furthermore finished a couple of lengths behind Real World in the Prix Daniel Wildenstein.

She tends to go forward, so if breaking well she’ll give herself every chance. The drop back to 7f by connections seems a nice move in my opinion and although she can act on quick ground she much prefers it on the softer side of things which she’ll get tomorrow at Doncaster.

Stone Of Destiny 7/1 EACH WAY – 1:50 Doncaster

I was planning on just having a sole selection for today's racing but I’ve opted for 2 I advise keeping your stakes within reason on this one and taking each way option as catching this horse right on the day can be a bit of a nightmare as he can be a pretty tough ride but if things fall nicely he could have a big run in him at a nice price.

I’m happy to stroke a line through his last run at Goodwood in July where he had zero luck in running. He’s a horse that likes to be held up off the pace and let loose as late as possible which makes him a tricky ride to get right and the fact there’s an apprentice on board makes this selection possibly even dodgier however I’ve faith in Harry Davies he’s obviously a well respected and talented apprentice as he rides for top trainers and I’ve seen him get it more right than wrong on the day in the races I’ve watched him ride.

Stone of Destiny won the Portland here back in 2020 and was 8lb higher in the weights back then so if things fall nicely for him he could give you a run for your money.
