I HAD a 5-4 winner with my NB on Thursday but the nap couldn't do likewise.
So it was a 0.75pt loss for the day and I'm now 0.35pts down for September. Well done to all winners and as usual let's hear your tips and chat.
Ascot 2:40
The form of Merlin Magic is strong with a second placed last time out to Purser a horse I think is good enough for next years 2000 Guineas. On debut Merlin Magic was third at this course, the first two came out and won again with the winner winning a Listed race in France. The favourite for the race is the unraced Herculean who will need a Herculean performance to win first time against a horse like Merlin Magic.
Newcastle 2:50
Naaeebb is a horse that looks to have plenty of scope for improvement and is bred to be far better than he has already shown although last time out the jockey had the horse further back than what was ideal. I am expecting him to be closer to the pace here and to get into the winners enclosure.
Newcastle 3:25
Footsteps Forever a 2yo Footstepsinthesand filly has been improving and has plenty more improvement in her. As I always say the Mark Johnston yard are hard to predict but I haven't done too badly with his horses. Last time out she ran well at Musselburgh behind Myboyhenry who won again. Next time, she won her second race at Pontefract when making all and with the anticipated improvement here she looks the one to beat even against the three time unbeaten Codicil.
Haydock 4:45
Hawridge Flyer was third when I advised him two runs ago but it's his second place at Newbury I can't get out of my head when he was second to the mightily impressive Dubai Thunder. Although he was ten lengths behind the winner it was still a good performance and one that would win this race with what looks a really low mark of 79.
