Just the one selection from Ayr for Monday's racing, after a decent day yesterday.

I imagine that Charging Thunder will be strong in the market for this race, due to his lightly raced and progressive looking profile, but I'm not totally sold on the form of his three outings. FAIRMAC definitely looks more exposed than Charging Thunder, but the form is solid in comparison, and I think he stays this trip much better.
Fairmac has been very consistent so far this year, being placed on five occasions, and though that's not a good sign for a horse who will win, he's bumped into a few nice horses. He finished runner-up to Monbaher over 12f, that horse was extremely well handicapped as he is now 15lb higher in the handicap, and that was probably over a trip which isn't Fairmac's optimum, in my opinion. The form of the others in that race has worked out well, with the 3rd and the 5th winning next time out. Fairmac was then beaten by a short head to Boltaway, he has also won next time out, and also looked well handicapped off a mark of 79 when they met. Last time out at Chester, Fairmac was slowly into stride, which is never ideal at Chester, but stayed on powerfully to grab 3rd on the line. You'd have to say he was unlucky, as on a more conventional track I think he might've won, as he had to go wide around the final bend, which definitely cost him more ground than the losing margin of a neck.
There's not much predicted pace in this race, but I'd like to think Ben Curtis would take the initiative and make the running on Fairmac. Mark Johnston horses are notoriously known for being front runners, and tough to pass, and he's made the running in a race before. I'd rather Ben do this and make it a real stamina test, than let Six Strings or Charging Thunder make the running, where it could turn it into a tactical race and a bit of a sprint which would suit them. Six Strings attempts a new trip, and I'm not totally convinced he'll stay this trip, if they go a good gallop.

Newton Abbot 4.05 KAPSIZE 5/1 Ran yesterday at Stratford so could easily be yet another non runner but hopefully fit to go.
