3.20 Musselburgh

GIFT OF RAJ (3.20) hosed up at Redcar earlier this month and Roger Fell’s gelding is worth a bet in the 2m 2f handicap at Musselburgh on Wednesday.

The six-year-old has another four furlongs to travel this afternoon but a 5lb rise seems fairly lenient given the manner of his success last time. Wynford scrambled home over two miles at Beverley and had re-opposing course winner Tomorrow’s Angel held in third when scoring at Newcastle in July. Tomorrow’s Angel is 8lb better off today, so has prospects of turning the tables.

1.15 Musselburgh

The seven-race card kicks off with a 7f maiden and favourite backers will want to be with BULLET FORCE (1.15), runner-up on both starts at Sandown.

1.45 Musselburgh

Mark Johnston drops NATURAL VALUE (1.45) into a seller and the gelding would merit a lumpy bet if re-producing his third to in-form Euro Implosion at Hamilton at the end of July. An uninspiring effort at Wolverhampton last time tempers enthusiasm but Natural Value can still see off Yukon, runner-up under a prominent ride in a Beverley maiden, and Major Snugfit.

2.20 Musselburgh

DONIZETTI (2.20) is penalised 6lb after pipping Julie Johnston over seven furlongs here five days ago, his first run back from wind surgery. In a poor event, he is worth chancing over this longer 1m 1f trip.

The Class 4 sprint is an interesting affair with dual summer scorer Jordan Electrics bidding to extend Ewen Whillans’ explosive start to his training career. Slight preference is for Jim Goldie’s course and distance scorer PRIMO’S COMET (2.50), beaten a neck by Clarendon House at the end of last month, with re-opposing Militia a close-up fourth.

3.50 Musselburgh

It has been a long time between drinks for HAJJAM (3.50), beaten a neck at Doncaster 11 days ago, but he can confirm places with third-home Oso Rapido. Peter Savill doesn’t possess the firepower of old and his The Weed Machine returns from a 600-day absence. King of Tonga ran well here last week and merits consideration along with Ayr scorer Asmund.

4.20 Musselburgh

Ayr winner RORY (4.20) has strung together a sequence of solid efforts and Goldie’s sprinter ran third to subsequent winner Harrogate over course and distance last month.
