SOD'S LAW (3.20) can defy top weight in the 1m 2f handicap, with Danny Tudhope a good booking by Hughie Morrison.
Sod's Law won over a mile at the Yorkshire track last October and, significantly, the ground was good to soft. The track will be riding the same today following overnight showers and Sod's Law posted a sound effort over this longer distance when a running-on third to Great Example at Nottingham last time. Bit Of A Quirke couldn't lead when fourth at Chester but may get his own way up front here, so rates a threat.
Sir Michael Stoute's Khafoo Shememi will be popular with punters in the Listed event. He was well beaten by Matterhorn in a similar contest at Windsor but the winner is a smart individual on his day. Stoute has never risked his gelding on a soft surface and at a bigger price MARIE'S DIAMOND (3.55) should go well.
Mark Johnston's colt finished ahead of Oh This Is Us at Chester before beating Hey Jonesy at rainy Haydock. Silvestre De Sousa takes the mount.
AL MUREIB (5.05) has been placed in all four starts this term and is taken to lose his maiden tag. Saeed Bin Suroor's gelding finished a close third to Corncake and Sophosc in a decent contest at Doncaster and may well relish this ease in the ground. A visor is applied for the first time.
Market rival Joyful Mission is fitted with a hood following his third at Haydock, while Gazton made a satisfactory debut here a couple of weeks ago, although no match for John Gosden's easy winner Harrovian.
