Isla Kai bounced back to form at Ripon and put in a gutsy performance after being under pressure for a good while and having the pack trying hard to pass him. He has boosted the form for my selection today, so fingers crossed the Newbury Class 2 race he was 3rd in can be boosted again.
Newbury 3:40 – Classic 2/1 (1pt Bet365)
Richard Hannon's well-bred son of Dubawi, Classic has been running very well in recent months and was mightily unlucky not to be closer than his finishing position of 4th at Newbury over 7f last time out. He is up to a mile for the 2nd time in his career, and the first time as a 3yo and I believe that will be a bonus.
He ran extremely well under some tough conditions at Newbury last time out. He was blocked repeatedly in the race but still managed to run on strongly into 4th just 2.75L behind the winner. As expected, the form of that race looks very strong for the class, and Isla Kai my yesterday's selection went on and won so that helps my thought process of the strong form. Classic is carrying a clear top weight in this contest, which isn't ideal, but he has the class to beat this field which is clearly not as strong as what he is been racing against.
Now he is stepping up to a mile again I expect more progression to come from him. He is by Dubawi who clearly produces many mile horses and he is out a 10f mare who was a daughter of George Washington who was also a beast at a mile, so all the directions for Classic point to more improvement over today's trip. He is versatile with the ground, so I'm not concerned about good to firm and as long as Pat Dobbs gets him a clear run through he should be tough to beat if in the same form.

They used to have this stuff at Rhyl a few years ago, whoever got to the bend first won and I’m sure the same horses were running under different names.

Forgot to say anything aboot Crunch B B B at Finger Lakes . This be Nb and similar to Everyoneloveinda which be the NAP.
Slight concern over his form till you look n see the 9th the place 2 runs in a 17.5k claimer he actually romped by 6/8 lengths but was disqualified so placed 9/9! This is 12.5k claiming meaning another drop in class after decent 4th and this only his 4th outing.
