It was frustrating to see the Huntingdon meeting being abandoned yesterday after two races. They decided to call it off after horses were slipping around some of their bends, so for the safety of the jockeys and horses they made the decision to call it a day. This happened quite late on so I couldn't supply any other horses I liked.

Sedgefield 2:15

On my first look at this race, I thought it was a race to avoid as it looked like a typical low-level handicap which was competitive, but the more I looked at it I thought there was a definite betting angle in this.

I think Joie De Vivre should be the favourite over Calliope, as he won this race last year and had a nice prep run for his defence with a win on the flat. For me, Calliope is better on a sounder surface and has to battle a 7lb rise in the weights from the handicapper. Sedgefield is expecting a lot of rain from now till the start of racing so expect the ground to be testing, so I personally couldn't be backing Calliope on the back of that information (0/6 on soft over 2m 4f).

The one I am giving a chance to is CASH AGAIN for the Ben Haslam yard, who is known for chucking in a few non-triers, so this selection isn't one I'm too confident in, but at the early odds of 11/1 I think he is worth an EW bet (been backed in since to 13/2 which is annoying).

Off a handicap mark of 92 he is definitely well-handicapped considering he has won over fences in a Class 3 off a mark of 106, as well as winning over today's course and distance on soft ground off a mark of 98. He is a horse who handles soft conditions with ease and I think the recent comeback run at Hexham was just a run for fitness. Richie McLernon is known for his calm riding style and his hold-up rides, but he had Cash Again many lengths off the pack very early in the race and never really got serious on him when he was losing ground, so I think they weren't exactly trying that day. If that's the case, then his fitness will be better for this and he dropped 3lbs for that run.

NAP is NR….so Nb is now going to my NAP and I’ll replace with NO:3 in Horseshoe Indianapolis first race aka R1 for Yankee purposes.
Small wager on the double with NAP and Classy Sadie.
