DODGY BOB (6.15) contests a poor Classified Stakes at Wolverhampton but has done enough to merit a bet at attractive odds.
There are some seriously one-paced horses going to post but Dodgy Bob has shown bits and pieces of form on the all-weather. He found five furlongs too sharp but still performed with credit (sixth) behind Ty Rock Brandy here last week. He ran from 8lb out of the handicap so had little chance but is back on his correct mark over this more suitable seven furlongs and is nicely positioned if able to exploit his low draw. Dodgy Bob should be bet each-way at 10-1 with Paddy Power.
STROXX (7.15) is another worth an ew punt in the 6f Novice Auction Stakes. He finished runner-up at Chester in mid-September and third horse Huboor came out to win at Newmarket two weeks later. Stroxx receives a tempting 7lb from short-price favourite Progressive Rating. It is hard to knock a horse which won by seven lengths last time out but Progressive Rating beat a modest bunch at Kempton. He might be worth taking on.
Soft ground at Brighton should pose no problem to FORTUNE AND GLORY (2.30). The six-year-old acquitted himself well under similar conditions at Windsor last week when a running-on fourth to Leader Writer. Fortune And Glory, a winner at Newbury (good to soft) in July on the back of a Kempton success nine days earlier, looks over-priced. Hot favourite Bardo Contiguo beat Ascot Week and Chinese Spirit at Ayr's Western meeting but that form is nothing special.
