HEAVY rain scuppered yesterday's Musselburgh nap Cosmic Ray and a similar quandary presents itself today as JACOB BLACK (4.35) wouldn't want it soft.

He looked a certain future winner after cruising into contention over 1m 1f here on his seasonal return but didn't quite see out the trip. Keith Dalgleish drops him to a more familiar distance and he would take some beating if the track is riding no worse than good.

It is a much better class of racing this afternoon and Richard Fahey has his string in rare form. COOLAGH FOREST (2.55) should take a 4lb rise for a recent course victory in his stride, while CLAIRE UNDERWOOD (3.25) transferred her excellent winter all-weather form to the turf when running third to hot-pot King's Advice at Ripon.

DUKE OF FIRENZE (2.25) will have appreciated the rain that fell yesterday and David Griffiths is a dab hand at keep thesae old sprinters ticking over. Duke Of Firenze is well handicapped these days and last month's fifth to Just That Lord at Epsom was a fine return to action.

Mark Johnston saddles top weight GALITELLO (5.10) in an ordinary 1m 6f handicap and his gelding is on the same mark as when successful over two miles at Lingfield in February.

There is turf action at Lingfield and firm-ground specialist MY BOY SEPOY (1.35) is worth a punt if the track is riding quick. The track was rock-hard when he completed a double at Bath last season.

Was gunna do sensible thing an wait till monday for hibbe but cant help myself breaken at punch at 710pm looks like it has been laid out for this race to me. 2nd fav will surely be feeling afects off few festival runs breaken will be fresh trainer likes to win race £100 on nose 6-4 thats me done till hibbees next bet

    • maverick 2 years ago

Hmmm I’m not sure m8 maybe shld have waited for hibee as a tough race to call but good luck

You think? Havnt put on yet wanted to see if anyone else tiped it on here. Obrien runner gets weight for age allowance but just it had tough races unless one mullins other runners os the one. Gunna wait see if anyone else on here tips it like coop or theplug

    • maverick 2 years ago

Cant see the price changing that much if you wait till later m8 and 1 of the experts can give you their opinion maybe as I defo ain’t 1 lol… looking at the race I felt the 2nd fave although has had a tried campaign its receiving weight all round and I quite like its chances however not a race I’ll be betting on as too tough to call for me

    • maverick 2 years ago

Just noticed that Recoba has picked the 2nd fave in his selections and he is a decent tipster mate up to you though

Cheers matey. I have just put it on there at 6-4 gotta go with gut well ahead this week from hibbees tip on wed so no prob if looses. Good luck on your bets to 🐎🥇

      Omg NAP finishes last wtf

  5. theplug 2 years ago

    stand up and fight 5/2
    breaken 11/8
    monkfish 13/8
    real steal 9/2
you have picked breaken for a reason so imo stick with him never change your mind,
im on breaken simply because he was so impressive winning his maiden ,he needs to improve on his jumping, but p towend picked him over the other mullins runners, and he won after a absence of 655 days off the track opefull this helps you

Aye theplug the big lay off was what i saw to ran june 2017 then not until this year the horse could be potentialy anything money has come for it 11-10 now cheers matey

    • recoba 2 years ago

Me a ‘decent tipster’ @Maverick sir!? Decent punter with opinions maybe like yourself probable, lol. 👍
Totally agree @Theplug,Gardens of Babylon is proven where as Breaken is more about potential, its not easy one @Charlie67 n yer on now and The plugs backed it so I’m worried now.
I’m only invested in it for £10 between my Trixie n a single so if you’re on with £100 very best of luck

    • maverick 2 years ago

You are m8 I have had a few winners from selections put up by you but yeah defo a difference between tipster and punter as I’m defo a punter lol

  6. postman 2 years ago

Blank day for me yesterday, but thanks to the Plugs NAP/NB and following a few others the day didn’t finish off to bad.

2:55 Musselburgh – Coolagh Forest (NAP)

i think gardens of babylon is the main danger to the fav,he runs in snatches and hits the odd hurdle aswell but as we all know to well anything can happenin horse racing mullins have three in the race he could even win it with the outsider of them who knows. i love p townend as a jockey and if the fav is good enough for him then its good enough for me,lke charlie67 said he could be anything, for charlie’s sake i hope breaken win .best of luck

  9. double carpet 2 years ago

Normal service was resumed yesterday with 2 losers.
Here’s a few more to avoid

    4.20 Hardline
Big drop in class and extra distance should benefit today.

    5.30 Apple’s Jade
Really looking forward to this race and hopefully we get the race we should have got at Cheltenham. I’ve just gone for AJ as I think her allowance just tips it for me but it’s a tough one to call.

    6.05 City Island
Be shocked if he can’t win this

    7.45 Longhouse Poet
Not backed it yet but any support in the market I’ll be on

    • recoba 2 years ago

      Good stuff @Maverick! 👍
Yeah Thelpug I noticed that a bit watching his last races but his last 2nd is good form. Believe it or not if my £6 bet loses I’ll be pleaded if you and Charlie67 wins on Breaken, especially with his £100 stake. 😨
Ps; Got to have a wee R/Forecast noe surely?? See how the day pans out first but.

Strasbourg v Marseilles has a history of cards and penalties so that’s what I’m sticking with:
    Penalty bets with Bet365
    Red card @ 4/1 (boosted)
Both teams red card @ 50/1
    both with Paddy Power

    Phew !!
    Longhouse Poet saves the day.

Apple’s Jade is obviously not a spring horse and City Island was too bad to be true.

    • theplug 2 years ago

well done double carpet nice drift i didn’t back him after i had mullins

    • recoba 2 years ago

Yeah nice drift to finish the day off on a real high. City Island was a big let down for the 3/3 but hey.
