BATTLE OF MARATHON (3.20) became something of a Lingfield specialist last winter when clocking up three victories and he is back for more in the 1m 7f handicap.
That hat-trick came over 1m 4f but his stamina kicked in over 1m 6f at Chelmsford City six days ago when running down hot favourite Australis. Battle Of Marathon is at his best when sitting off a strong gallop and classy stayer Rochester House goes from the front, so a decent gallop seems assured.
YES MY BOY (12.00) faces a High Noon re-match with Furzig in the 1m 2f handicap. He finished a neck behind that rival when they were second and third respectively at Wolverhampton last month and finds himself 5lb worse off after picking up a penalty for scoring here last Wednesday.
Yes My Boy briefly looked in trouble three out last week, but responded gamely to Hollie Doyle's urging to pull almost three lengths clear of Plantadream. He could get another easy lead here, with chief market rival Make It Rain liable to be held up, and Yes My Boy runs Lingfield well. Furzig could manage only sixth in this race 12 months ago, but cannot be dismissed.
GUMRA (2.45) bids to complete a four-timer and will take some stopping under Adam Kirby. She is a fast-improving filly and made light work of a very wide draw when bolting up at Chelmsford City nine days ago. A 6lb penalty clearly makes things tougher but Gumra should be followed until beaten.
