BANGKOK (1.45) was mugged by Felix when they clashed last month but he can avenge that defeat in the Betway Winter Derby Trial at Lingfield.

Andrew Balding's five-year-old was forced to make the running at Wolverhampton and was a sitting duck for Felix's late swoop. This could be another tactical affair but Bangkok has a tremendous Lingfield record, scoring by more than four lengths in this event 12 months ago. He was also conceding 3lb to Felix and close third Forest Of Dean at Wolves but they meet on level terms here.

FIZZY FEET (1.11) represents good each-way value at around 5-1 in the 6f handicap. David Loughnane's trailblazing sprinter should win the early dash for the lead and may be hard to catch.

CHRISTOPHER WOOD (2.05) can give 7lb claimer Angus Cheleda his biggest success to date by landing the bet365 Scottish Champion Hurdle at Musselburgh.

Paul Nicholls has been a steadfast patron of this cross-border fixture and Christopher Wood chased home the Dan Skelton-trained Cadzand at Kempton over the Christmas period. Torigni was more than a length behind in third and is held on the form book taking into account Cheleda’s allowance. The young rider rode four winners in December and a televised victory on Christopher Wood, a previous course and distance winner on soft, would further enhance his growing reputation. Donald McCain’s Blakeney Point scored over course and distance on New Year’s Day and a 2lb rise is very fair.

LE BREUIL (3.45) won’t lack for staying power in the bet365 Edinburgh National over four miles. Ben Pauling’s gelding shoulders 11st 12lb, so this is no easy task, but he posted an excellent third to Notachance in the 3m 5f Warwick Classic three weeks ago. The top weight met a better class of rival that day and Le Breuil’s stamina kicked in when landing the 3m 7f National Hunt Chase at the 2019 Cheltenham festival.

Last year’s winner Bob Mahler has been pulled up on his last three outings and two Scottish-trained challengers are preferred in the shape of The Ferry Master and Dino Boy.

Have backed Le Breuil in the 3.45. Trainer has said the GN is the target this year but needs to go up 4-6lbs to get in, so will be all out to win this.
And doubled it with Dysart Diamond 5/1 in the first race at leopardstown on Sunday. The race is named after Willie’s father so happy to go with Townend’s choice.

See how the ground is but I was really impressed with Sharjah lto and it was soft which it supposedly wouldn’t like but had no problems with.
It’s possibly heavy or worse tomorrow that’s the big worry.
Possibly go with Energueme(2.15)too for a trixie
Yeah I expect a great day for Mullins but far from out the question and wouldn’t even br a shock!

The Breuil stays longer than the Mother in Law. 4 miles and inferior opposition should make it the horse to beat.

      Yeah agree Crawmeister.
I’m thinking of that,Gallaird De Mesnil and Sharjah. Alan’s 1st tip look good too. 🤔

Also pleased with statler who I’m on for the AB

  21. recoba 3 years ago

Good win in the first there in Ireland so couple of £s on Shan Blue…1.50 (5/2 and in a wee double with Chacun Por Soi (1.35) pays near 4/1 Bet365.
CPS should romp this but at 2/5 and the Skybet lengthen the odds being pants I’m hoping Shan Blue gets job down and he should follow surely!?
