The weather has taken it's toll again with it removing three meetings for tomorrow, leaving us with one flat meeting in the shape of Musselburgh. Fingers crossed they aren't going to be effected too much by the heat, and remains on.

I have a bit of a love hate relationship with AYR POET who ran a few stinkers for me last year when tipped up, after looking to be in top form, but once again I have been dragged into backing him again today in the opener.
Shahnaz is the one they all have to beat, being a 3yo who is clearly a progressive horse, but I believe there are reasons to avoid him today. I can't blame connections for running him four days after hosing up, as the penalty he carries today is probably going to be smaller than the rise in the weights he'll receive from the handicapper. However, I've been sucked into this kind of horse before, and the time in between races is often not enough and they don't show their true showing, and I think that could be the case with this one today.
Flylikeaneagle has been in good form since moving to the Lucinda Russell yard, but that wasn't a total shock as he was very well handicapped on old pieces of form for previous trainers. He has to be respected, but I wouldn't say he's miles ahead of the handicapper on the basis on his 0.5L victory over an in-form horse, who might finally be in the grips of the handicapper.
I've fallen onto Ayr Poet who is a C&D winner off a 3lb higher mark, which is effectively 8lbs due to Shannon Watts taking off 5lbs. On that basis, he is very well handicapped and needs to be respected. It's a shame that the early odds have collapsed as you could've got double the odds he currently is at the time of writing (5/1). Shannon Watts is still an inexperienced jockey, but teamed up with Jim Goldie to get a winner the other day, so clearly knows what she is doing.
