Racing tips: A drop in grade will see Juge Et Parti in a better light at Ayr

Some poor performances from yesterday's selections, more so from Monsieur Lecoq who showed nothing at all. He had no excuses, and he just seemed to be not at the races. Presenting Dylan ran to form, but is probably weighted too high now, so he'll have to find a race full of exposed horses or be dropped in the handicap for him to land a win.

A horse who I tipped up last time out, and even though he didn't win but I still believe he has potential off his current mark is, JUGE ET PARTI. I put him up when he ran in a decent prized pot at Carlisle at the end of October, where he ran with plenty of credit, but bumped into what seemed like a well handicapped horse in Hold That Thought, and also into a horse who is a good yardstick in Christmas At April, which gives the impression the step up in grade might have caught him out.

Now they return to a weaker race, I can see him running well again back over a trip which is definitely within reach (3m) and on ground which should be perfect, as long as it doesn't dry too much, as there is no forecast rain. The downside to running in a weaker race is that he'll be carrying top weight, but this is something which he did recently on his last start for Archie Watson, where he won in plenty in hand off a mark of 119 (5lbs lower). Off his current handicap mark I think he is capable of improving a fair few pounds, especially over fences as he is still very unexposed as a chaser. He has won twice and finished 3rd two times in five runs, which is a decent record. Hopefully Brian Hughes doesn't ride him like a plank like he did last time where he was wide throughout, which meant he gave up plenty of ground compared to the others in the field, which wasn't a help.

This race has a few interesting runners, including the Irish raider, Shanroe Al C. He appears to be the main danger as his trainer's record when sending horses over to Britain is very good. His handicap mark might be high enough now, but they've opted for a 3lb claimer, so I'd expect a big run from him.
