Mortlach won nicely on the day and rewarded me with another winner for the week.

Nothing sweeter than watching the jockey take a couple of glances over the shoulder and between the legs to see what's happening around him. Paddy knew he had a good bit of horse underneath him to go land the spoils.

Rizz returns tomorrow evening with tips for Tuesday's racing so this will be the last post until such time I see something worth putting up for you all. Roll on the flat season!

Without sounding like a cocky idiot I can't quite believe the form I've hit this week. Producing winners at roughly an 85% strike rate. Racing is a tough sport to produce winners consistently on the bounce and I'm proud of the effort this week. Purple patches like that don't happen too often but when they do you welcome it with open arms!

I've two selections for tomorrow one from Carlisle and one from the evening meeting at Newcastle.

Whitehaven 5/4 – 1:15 Carlisle

Not the most valuable of selections however I fully expect this one to be bang there.

Whitehaven can make it second time lucky over the obstacles for trainer Donald McCain after a decent attempt previously at Catterick last month.

Whitehaven was previously trained by Hughie Morrison and raced on the flat for him rather than over the jumps.

He was a consistent sort on the flat. Getting his head in front five times whilst also hitting the frame on a good few occasions.

Those particular performances saw him achieve a respectable rating in the low 80s.

Previous to his debut run for Donald McCain he actually finished 2nd behind one of his runners at Haydock in the shape of Navajo Pass. He obviously liked what he saw on the day before taking Whitehavan on board.

There was a lot to like about his debut run for Donald over the jumps, he finished 3rd on debut behind Legendary Day and Matchless who both had recent enough wins under the belt and more experience over the obstacles.

Level up 7/4 – 6:00 Newcastle

Jockey Oisin Murphy is back and he rewarded me with a winner on Jupiter Express a few days ago on his return to the race track. He has a handful of rides at Newcastle and I think his best chance comes on Level Up for trainer P D Evans.

Level Up has been nothing short of progressive and consistent over the 5f. With two first-place finishes, two second-place finishes and a 3rd in his last 5 outings.

I was really impressed with his last outing when going down close home to Grant Tuers Walking On Clouds. Given Walking On Clouds is thriving at present and won 5 of his last 8 to only lose out towards the line is a cracking effort and a strong piece of form to be taking into this race.

David Evans had a 7lb claimer on board that day which obviously would of helped a bit but he's booked Oisin Murphy tomorrow for the ride and he's one of the best in the business. Level Up has only been raised 1lb for that effort.
