Rizz has left Cairnzy in charge of Monday's racing. Rizz will return tomorrow evening with his selections for Tuesday’s card.
Rizz reached out to me on Monday evening and offered to cover the thread tonight. He didn’t fancy anything on Monday, and after glancing through the meetings, I don’t exactly blame him. With that said, I had some free time and decided to take it on.
Rizzel’s selection on Sunday was unable to land a blow. His main fancy, Kylian, was ridden more prominently this time around, which I guess was a surprise to Rizz given how Spencer tends to come late with his challenges on his mounts. He found very little when push came to shove and quickly went backwards in the business end.
His other selection Theoryofeverything was also disappointing. He never really got better than a midfield position and was well beaten in the end. Rizz did mention that the forecast rainfall was a massive factor for that one, but it didn’t look like the rain came in the end.
World As One 2/1 – Roscommon 18.18
My main fancy for Monday comes over the obstacles rather than the flat.
I thought those with racing experience didn’t set the bar that high for this contest, and as a result, I don’t think this will take much winning. There are a few making their debuts in this field, but again, I didn’t fancy the look of any of them.
I think the market has this bang on to an extent, but I do expect my selection to shorten overnight and during the day and thought there was value in the 2/1 on offer at the time of writing.
My selection arrives here on the back of some decent efforts in bumper races, the most recent coming back in May when finishing fourth at Kilbeggan. I did manage to catch a quick reply to that contest, and my selection travelled well for the most part. He was held up in the rear and made steady ground into the business end to lead, but simply tired in the final couple hundred yards. That contest came over 2m3f, and he drops down to 1m7f for this hurdle contest, which looks a good move. If he jumps well, I believe he will be bang there, and given he’s trained by Willie Mullins, I assume he will have him well drilled in that department.
From the remainder, Gordon Elliot’s Manoir De Miranda was disappointing last time out and has been hit with 8lb rise. Minella Moonshine is an interesting one but hasn’t been seen in over two years, which is rather concerning.
Michaela’s Boy 4/1 – Lingfield 4.15
I was going to give the flat a miss but decided last minute to give Michaela’s Boy a chance.
My selection can be a little hot and cold at times, but he arrives here in form and looks the safest option in this field, with plenty arriving with question marks on their heads.
Michaela’s Boy has to carry top weight, which isn’t ideal, but jockey Luke Morris gets on well with this horse and with a handy draw in stall one, I think if he can break well and get a nice toe into this race, he could be a big player in the business end.
Nogo’s Dream looked the main danger after glancing through the remainder of the field. Oisin Murphy has a decent record when aboard that one, and he too is drawn nicely in stall 2.
