It was an up and down day in regards to my 4 selections on Saturday but I’m more than happy with the result with some big priced winners popping up as I mentioned would probably happen in Fridays write up.
Garrus was massively disappointing, Marco Ghiani was pushing and shoving him forward to get a better position and when the pace quickened he didn’t pick up and was well beat.
Chindit returned a short priced 8/13 winner which is better than a kick in the teeth! His class showed through in the end. He had me worried early on as he raced very keen as he’s done plenty of times before but he picked up nicely when push came to shove and he won quite comfortably in the end with nothing really giving him any bother.
The best result of the day was my EW selection Rogue Bear who ran a blinder and being held up towards the rear. He managed to grab us a place and if you took the advised bet of EW you would of tripled your money on that one.
My last selection Back From Dubai in the evening meeting at Wolverhampton was well beaten. Another strange ride on that one. He never looked like winning but jockey Alister Rawlinson from what I watched didn’t want to either… Nothing annoys me more watching a selection be dilly dallied along in the straight. You take that horse to the line and try to win at all costs. I don’t think he properly went for the line at any point and the whip was never drawn either. Disappointing because he was sat nicely in behind the two front runners with some cover and looked to be travelling quite well before they went for home.
I’ve one selection from the evening meeting at Newcastle on Monday that I reckon will go close.
Newcastle 7:00
On paper Bless Him has it in his locker to carry top weight against this opposition.
Simcock's horses are not running too badly at present and he’s booked Jamie Spencer for the ride. Spencer isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, he’s not mine either but he is what he is.
Bless Him has some decent form in the book, in particular his clear second place finish behind Palace last year in a group 2 race at Sandown. Palace Pier of course is a multiple group 1 winner so that form stands him in good light going into this race if able to reproduce anything of the sort.
A good few of this lot haven’t been seen since the back end of last year where as Bless him has been consistently running this year with some decent efforts over in Dubai, so he has a race fitness edge as well over some of the field.
His most recent run was at Wolverhampton where he finished 5th in the Lincoln Trial over 1m1f. I caught a glimpse of that race before deciding to stick him up. He was too far back in the field given too much to do (Spencer rode that day, no surprise there!) Let’s hope he doesn’t make the same mistake tomorrow….
Bless Him was rated at triple figures last year and runs off 96 tomorrow so he’s handicapped to go very well.
Good luck!
HOW DO YOU TRIPPLE YOUR MONEY ON ROUGE BEAR £5 EW 14/1 COSTS £10 RETURN £19 THAT DOES NOT EVEN DOUBLE YOUR MONEY GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT
Apologies ‘database’,
I got on the early price before selection shortened and I got muddled up with the price of the selection when my write up went live.
Regardless you’d of basically doubled your money on the 14s. If doubling your money isn’t up your street then each to their own.
GOOD LUCK FOR TODAY
