The Mrs Paddy Power Mares' Chase Grade 2 race is the newest race of the Cheltenham Festival with this being the third running.

The Mares' races are becoming more prominent, and I don't mind them, including the Mares' Novice and Mares' Hurdle races. It can be said to dilute the better races, but I think the Mares deserve their own races as running against the boys can be a very tough ask.

Cheltenham 4:50 – Impervious 2/1 (2pt)

I thought this race would be quite easy to decide as I thought Allegorie De Vassy was the one to be on this race, but after reviewing her races I'm very worried about her jumping. She is a Mare with tonnes of ability but does tend to make a mess of her fences and you can't be doing that at Cheltenham, especially when her jumping will be under pressure from a decent pace which will likely be set by Magic Daze. It's one thing jumping at your own pace, but when you've got to go gallop being set, it's different. She is the favourite, and I can't argue why as she is trained by Willie Mullins, but I don't think she is bombproof at the prices.

I thought Impervious was the one with the stand-out piece of form in this race. This mare has progressed into a lovely horse since being sent over fences. She was a good hurdler, but the improvement she's made this season is quite unbelievable. She beat Dinoblue the time before last, doing it in the fashion of a horse who would be better over further. Dinoblue was well fancied two days ago in the Grand Annual and did run well to finish second, going off as 7/2F. This horse then beat the boys in a Grade 3 Chase, which was some doing considering she was carrying a 7lb penalty. She beat Journey With Me who was a nice novice hurdler last year and has since won a Grade 3 in good style, that is definitely the best form in this race. JP McManus bought her this season and you can see why, she travels well, especially at this trip, she handles the ground and jumps very well. I think she should be the favourite.

Jeremys Flame is an interesting runner. She dotted up at Huntingdon last time around beating Zambella. I thought that was a very likeable performance, but the trainer seems to think she is better on better ground, so the rain over the last couple of days wouldn't have been ideal. I still think she is a good EW price.

Magic Daze is a crazy front-running horse who will probably not stay. She is too keen in her races and will struggle to get the trip on testing ground, but she will be an entertaining watch and will hopefully put a decent amount of pace into this race. If she settles and they give her an easy lead, she could nick this from the front, but that's a big ask based on how she normally runs.

I thought Pink Legend had a squeak of a place at 33/1. She finished 2nd in this race last year, but I think this race is tougher. She stays further than today's trip so a strong pace will help and though she probably prefers a quicker surface, this ground will bring her stamina into play. Might have a small ew play even though I'm not tipping her up.
