THE Voice of Value is an amateur tipster with a love for racing and jumps in particular. He caught the bug at an early age when his grandfather had a share in a winning chaser and his annual Grand National and Cheltenham guides have been well received our the past few years.

We're delighted to have him aboard and here is the fourth of his detailed day-one write-ups and tips for the greatest show on turf.

Champion Hurdle

– 3.20 p.m.

– 2m 110 y

– Hurdles

– The best hurdles horses in training go for this one

– Usually slightly younger horses because it is only 2m and appeals to the younger ones with a quick turn of foot

– Jezki won last year and returns again but The New One was hampered last year and will be looking for revenge.  Faugheen will be the favourite having won the Neptune last year with the cigars out.

The blue ribband of hurdle racing and it promises to be an absolute cracker this year.  Last year’s winner Jezki was a bit of a surprise and he returns for more this year but there is also previous dual winner Hurricane Fly at the ripe old age of 11 and the new kid on the block Faugheen who looks like he could be incredible.  The New One was third last year but was badly hampered when Our Connor fell in front of him and for my money he would have won had it not been for that.  He just doesn’t look as good this year though with some dodgy jumping and a narrow win last time in a race that should have been a cakewalk.

Main Selection: Faugheen – 11-10 (totesport)

I’ve been trying to pick holes in Faugheen since last year but I just can’t find fault.  He looks like he could be a superstar and I don’t even think he needs to improve much to win this.  It will be incredible to see what happens when he is asked more of a question coming up the hill this year but I think he will have what it takes to win.

Each way selection: Kitten Rock – 33-1 (totesport)

A young horse in cracking form who would have to improve quite considerably even to get a place in this race but there are good vibes coming from the trainer and at only 5 years old there is a potential for that big improvement and at 33-1 he might be worth a small each way stake for interest.  I don’t expect Faugheen and Jezki to be far away but there isn’t much value in backing them each way once I have nailed my Faugheen colours to the mast.

Betting suggestions:

Faugheen – 5 point win at 11-10

Kitten Rock – 0.5 pts each way at 33-1

Good man Curley! A few whispers for this one but it would be incredible if he could beat the top boys at this stage. A shock to end all shocks. Enjoy tomorrow! More tips to come for the rest of the week…

Voice of Value, I assume you don’t do this for a living? You must be the only punter who has lost today.
