Doncaster 3.35 – Mojo Star

MOJO STAR (3.35) is trading at attractive each-way odds to upset odds-on favourite Hurricane Lane in the Cazoo St Leger at Doncaster.

Richard Hannon’s colt chased home Adayar in the Epsom Derby, with Hurricane Lane more than three lengths adrift in third. Hurricane Lane turned that piece of form on its head when landing the Irish Derby at the Curragh, but things didn’t go according to plan for Mojo Star, hampered at a crucial stage when the pace quickened before plugging on into fifth place.

The Godolphin-owned winner went on to mop up the Grand Prix de Paris, but on a strict interpretation of Epsom form Mojo Star is worth an each-way investment.

Aidan O’Brien saddles four of the 11-strong field, with Frankie Dettori an eye-catching booking for High Definition. The colt hasn’t lived up to plenty of pre-season hype but the combination of the ebullient Italian and first-time cheek-pieces may have a galvanising effect.

Ottoman Empire completed a four-timer for Johnny Murtagh in the Gordon Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and is clearly a progressive colt.

Musselburgh 7.20 – Line of Descent

LINE OF DESCENT (7.20) can send favourite backers home happy by mopping up the 1m 6f finale at Musselburgh.

Simon Crisford’s three-year-old was always in control when making all the running in a Hamilton maiden last time, having chased home Thousand Oaks on his previous start at Newmarket.

The stable has been in rampant form and Line Of Descent can make a winning handicap debut, possibly at the expense of Arch Moon, fitted with cheek-pieces for the first time.

Chester 4.55 – Bay of Naples

BAY OF NAPLES (4.55) will go off a much bigger price in the 1m 2f handicap at Chester.

Michael Herrington’s gelding was caught on the line at Chelmsford City nine days ago and his earlier fourth to Aweedram over course and distance at the beginning of August points to a prominent show at an each-way price.

Bay of Naples handles soft ground, so underfoot conditions should be ideal.
