As has become the norm in recent times, Saturday night means we’re on the hunt for a few greyhound bets. The usual cards take place tonight, with runners at both Monmore and Hove catching the eye.
Today’s greyhound tips
The meetings at Monmore and Hove interest me tonight, with three dogs in particular standing out. See below for details on three potential bets, odds allowing.
For those who may not know, I’ll continue to confirm that the odds in brackets are the minimum odds to take as far as I’m concerned. Based on my own opinion, I’ve priced these races up to 100%. If the bracket odds or bigger are available, the dog in question is a bet. If shorter odds are on offer when priced up, there’s no bet from my point of view.
Tip 1: Droopys Babble (take odds of 7/4+)
Race #1 Monmore @ 18:31
We’re starting the evening by attacking the opener at Monmore, where Droopys Babble, who went close for us last weekend, is once again worth supporting.
Sure, she didn’t quite get it done last time out, but I’m not going to be so quick to abandon her as the bitch could very easily gain compensation here by merely matching last Saturday’s effort.
Her A5 record remains decent, while with this field lacking quick trappers, she has the early speed to get a good position at the first bend. If she avoids trouble there, it could be plain sailing for a bitch who has won two of her last three A5 races.
Tip 2: Brunswick Bullet (take odds of 7/4+)
Race #3 Hove @ 18:42
Next up, we’re switching to Hove, where just over ten minutes after the bet above, the third race on the card takes place.
This looks to be a nice opening for Brunswick Bullet, who after some decent runs in Open Races, went close in second when back in A1 company last time out. This looks a little easier, which gives him every right to return to the winner’s podium.
Twice a winner of Open Races in recent times, this lad has come through stiffer challenges than this. If he can repeat any of his last two times, he’ll likely come home in front. Put it this way, if odds of 7/4 or bigger available on the first chalk, I’ll be all over him.
Tip 3: Ballymac Cline (take odds of 2/1+)
Race #8 Monmore @ 20:31
Ending the evening, we’re heading back to Monmore, where I like the look of Ballymac Cline ahead of the eighth race.
Somewhat prolific from Trap 6 at Monmore, boasting an impressive 58% strike rate from the outside box, this bitch knows how to make her presence felt in graded sprints, that’s for sure.
After some Open-Race efforts at Perry Barr, she’s back at Monmore and she drops into a D1, which is not to be ignored. She won her last D1 at this venue, doing so with a bit in hand, and I make her the favourite to get the job done here.
Acca bet & other markets to explore
For those interested in playing an accumulator bet, then assuming that the minimum odds to take, as shown above, are available, you’d be looking at a treble paying odds of at least 21/1.
