I wasn’t planning on jumping on for Friday's racing as nothing caught my eye at the start.
Then I noticed in my tracker a horse that I noted from a debut run back in June is running in the opener at Newbury and I fancy having a small each-way play on it.
Verdansk 5/1 EW – Newbury 1:23 pm
A competitive 6f starts the card at Newbury tomorrow, a field filled with 2yr olds with unknown potential, as tricky as it comes really.
I noted Verdansk away back in June when finishing 3rd of 16 at a decent price that day of 16/1.
I thought he stayed the trip beautifully on debut despite running very green the first couple of furlongs.
He, of course, showed signs of inexperience but he was one of the last of the bridle and the penny somewhat dropped in the final furlong or so and he stayed on nicely into 3rd. Verdansk hasn’t been since his debut run and I’m sure connections will have been schooling him further at home and I’m confident he’ll know even more about the job at hand tomorrow.
Going into a bit more depth of that debut run, Verdansk actually finished ahead of the Andrew Balding trained Chaldean who has since went on to win 3 on the bounce.
Verdansk didn’t finish that far behind the winner Seductive Power and although that one hasn’t won since he has been racing in much stronger company against the likes of X J Rascal and Urban Sprawl who have also been in the winners enclosure.
It’s a competitive race and it’s always a hard one to judge as these types of races can throw up all sorts but an each-way play at 5/1 I think is a decent bet.
Good luck!
Race time is 1:07pm good luck all

Wheres your tips?
Afternoon Matty,
Thanks very much for your uneducated comment regarding today’s unfortunate losing selection.
I fancied taking on the short priced favourite today as I felt Verdansk had some strong form which was echoed by the pundits before the off and was reflective of the market as the horse was backed into roughly 7/2 from 5s.
If the horse placed at 5/1 you would of at least covered your stake and at the same time had a crack at the favourite at a decent price of 5/1.
I don’t see any problem in backing a horse each way at 5s to cover myself, especially if taking on a decent sort at the head of the market.
Unfortunately the selection wasn’t at the races today, a risk you take punting on horses and this sport.
Always nice to get abuse by people I haven’t seen comment before… No surprise to not see you involved in my thread when there is winning selections. Shocker.
P.S I am not an admin I am one of the resident horse racing tipster for the site and I’m only on the thread maybe once or twice a week when I feel I’ve something worth posting.
Good luck
