1.55 Brown Advisory Novices' Chase Tips

Wednesday 17 March  |  Age: 5yo+  |  Prize: £175,000

The Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase (formerly the RSA Chase) is a Grade 1 chase held over just over three miles (3 miles and 80 yards). The race is open to novice chasers aged five and up, and during the race 19 fences are jumped by those taking part.

Voice of Value's Tips

1.55pm Cheltenham – Wednesday

This is one of the more straightforward races to discuss and predict in my opinion.

MONKFISH should win this fairly comfortably provided he has a clear round of jumping. He stays very well as we saw in last year's Albert Bartlett and has jumped and travelled really well in his three races over fences so far.

It doesn't look like there will be much opposition turning up to take him on and he looks like one of the bankers of the week to me.

He is currently a 4-6 shot with most firms including Casumo and looks a good bet to me even if he was clipped in to 1-2.

I'm recommending doubles and a treble with Monkfish, Royale Pagaille (NH Chase 4.50pm Tues) and Envoi Allen (Marsh 1.20pm Thurs).  In terms of staking I would go for 3 win doubles at 3 points each and a 3 point treble.

Recommended Bet

  • Monkfish (4-6) as part of doubles and trebles
